Default Why do people reply to a quote, and put the text UNDER their reply?

Stop it! It drives me insane. I need to read what you're talking about BEFORE I read your reply.

Example:

I think that BOVs are stupid. But, I think that hood scoop plugs are a must for any WRX/STi owner.

Quote:
Hi, my name is jard and I'm new here. What are the best types of BOVs and hood scoop plugs that you recommend? Thanks guys, your the best!

I only do it if I'm replying to something not involving the quote, then I'll reply to the quote under it.

It just defies logic. You read text, then you reply to it. Someone reading it would read the source, then read your reply. Who reads the reply and then reads the source?

Yes. I guess my sarcastic response was too vague to be interpreted the way it was intended .

Sometimes I do it that way if the text I am quoting is long, because I know people are too damn lazy to find the actual reply under all that quoted text.

Second reason is that people who actually follow a whole thread are usually clever enough to figure out who is responding to what without having to read through an entire quotation.

So I figure I'm doing people a favor by putting quoted text below my reply.
