If you can't pass the joke of a test we give here, you probably aren't even qualified to take the bus, let alone drive.

Seriously. I remember driving in the car with some people during their tests, and it's shocking what they let slide. it's as if they have a "pass all" rule that they only break if you actually kill someone.

They busted a bunch of folks in NoVA DMVs for giving licenses to immigrants (illegal and otherwise) who never even took the tests.

I flunked a few times.
1. Hit the back pole parallel parking. FAIL 2. passed all tests but "Appeared" afraid to drive FAIL 3. passed all tests but drove too slow. FAIL 4..... Well, it snowed the morning before the fourth try. I got in, and put the pedal to the floor of the '89 four banger Taurus. Spinning tires in the ice during the reverse test like I was prepping for a run down the dragstrip. I aced them all like it were a time trial. fastAr I tell ya. I finally passed too stories of the Maryland MVA driving tests back in 12/93 - 1/94. |

I passed on my first attempt, but the guy didn't look like he really cared about anything. I got in, buckled my seatbelt, cranked the car, checked my mirrors, and backed out of the parking space.
"Why'd you back out, it was open in front of you, you could have just pulled through." "Uhhh..... uhhhh...." We go up the road, he has me turn into this little residential street, then another residential street. This street is designed to parallel park cars on both sides, and still have two lanes of traffic, so it's essentially 4 lanes wide, but unmarked. He tells me to parallel park. There are no cars around, so I just kinda pull forward next to a curb into an area that's not marked. "Well, I would have preferred you pretended there were cars you had to back in around, but whatever. Now pull out and do a 3 point turn here." "But this road is so wide I can do a U-turn on it." "Let's pretend." We finish that, then head back to the office and take the picture. My driving test took 5 minutes and went about half a mile. |

^^If I grew up in NC, I would have passed on the first try. .
Maryland has had a specially designed course for the test.... at least since I took mine. |

^^ what he said.
The maryland driving test doesn't take place on the road. It happens on a set course next to the DMV. They do the stop sign trick where after you do one objective they tell you to drive over to the next one but you pass a stop sign on the way there. Lots of people fail at that point. |
