Default How to Remove F***in dog hair from Car

Like the title says. How the hell do I remove dog hair from my carpet and seats. G/F let the pooches in the car while I was away on business which is a big no no and P***ed me off pretty bad. (made her sleep on the couch with the dogs)

Now 4 days of them in the car and there is dog hair every where. I tried to shop vac the hair out but the only method is to rub back and forth and I am not going to wear holes in everything doing that. Stock 05 STI interior. WHAT DO I DO? I NEED HELP!!!! I can't stand a dirty gross interior. Is there a place to go to in the north of Boston MA area that will get rid of this?

I'd go with with either a lint roller or some packaging tape. Just get a big roll of packaging tape and blot the hair off as it sticks to it. It's going to be tedious but it won't damage the seats.

Bought something from a State Fair vendor (yeah I know, their sales tactics are ) called The Mr. Sticky. Its a silicone lint roller, works pretty damn good so far.

Before that I just wrapped duct tape sticky side out around my hands, ghetto but worked ok--and free!

I've found using a nylon bristled brush
like this: http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/autopia_2067_27629866

and some carpet foam
like this: http://thisisthestuff.com/

does an excellent job

Get the new Scotch Fur Fighter. I got the household version for the couches and it works amazingly well. They even have a car version.

Try using a small rubber squeegee like the ones for washing windows. Works wonders!

when I detailed cars, I would use a damp towel and latex gloves. just kinda rub at it with the towel, then gloves....usually works pretty well.

Most pet stores or wal-mart pet sections should have a pet hair roller. It's like a lint roller but the adhesive is much stronger. Cheap and effective. Happy rolling.

I had the same issue when I had my 02 WRX. For some reason it is much easier to get the dog hair off my current STI's seats.

Two methods I found that DID work but took some time.

1. Lent roller or Duct tape. You cannot get the fur out of your seats by rolling the roller. Instead I hold it by the sticky part and "brush" the seats with it. Duct tape, wrap it around your hand so the sticky part is obviously facing out. Instead of just dabbing your seats with it, go in a brushing motion. I never had an issue with the glue coming off the tape and onto the seats and it did a good job and pulling the hair off.

2. Shop vac. Same thing, you can't just roll the vac over the seats and expect it to get all the hair up. Instead "brush" the vaccumm end over a small area of hair repeatedly and work the hair out. Dog hair weaves it's way into the fabric so you need to really work to get it all out. I have had the vac leave some marks like you mentioned on the seats but they seem to disappear after a few days of sitting on them. Wearing holes would take some serious effort.

After taking my dog to the vet (8yr old pitbull, very course hair) my car was COVERED in fur. I was so pissed. But after about an hour with a shop vac my seats looked better than they did before I took her. Hope this helps.

I never tried that "fur fighter" posted above, but if it works then that might be worth checking out.

My dog rides along everywhere. Typically once a week (no one but the dog rides in back, anyway) I use my Bissel vacuum with the 'pet hair eraser' attachment. Works perfect, and is great to have in the house as well. Think I spent like $125 for it.

A lot of it may depend on your type of dog as well. My Cattle Dog has medium length hair, it's pretty easy to deal with. My sister-in-laws' pit bull has fine little needle hairs that tend to stick into the fabric and require a little more work.

....Guess I'm in the minority here. I let my dog in my car all the time.

Not a big deal to rub the back seats down with your hand, collect the loose hair, and toss it out...

My Collie/Retriever rides in teh shotgun seat all the time...he's my buddy and co-pilot!

I just use a lint-roller and it comes right out, no problem, no drama.

I think I'd only really care about my interior if I drove some kind of luxury car with leather, then I'd have to buy him a mat so he didn't scratch up the leather.

I let my pit in my car all the time (although she's got short hair she still sheds them everywhere). I have a few of these brushes and they work wonders (it's the same concept of using rubber brushes as hair salons use to sweep hair and not get hair stuck in the brush. I usually brush into one pile and vacuum out.
http://www.autodetailingsolutions.net/phb-1.html

here's what it's able to do with ease (carpet is before shampooing, but hair free), not my car but a good example:

I have a hammock in our back seats, so the dirt/ hair is minimal to negligible.

If you take a shop vac like mentioned above, it should take it out. The key is to use a circular motion with the hose end. That should build up a little static electricity. Then using the edge of the hose roll over it. It should lift it up and out. And of course, the lint roller will work.

Easiest way is to kill the dog, then burn the car.

Or, use a lint roller then go through with an extractor like a Bissel Little Green Machine.
