Default Is it possible to swap an 04 STi console into an 02 WRX?

Is it possible to swap an 04 STi console into an 02 WRX? The harnesses look as if they may fit, but the temp control on my 02 WRX has somewhat of a manual set-up- you turn the dial and it pulls on a "temp tube". With STi's "drive by wire," are the HVAC controls also monitored digitally?

You must have not done any searching at all.

The console will swap over directly, the HVAC (temp controls) will not swap over without redoing your wiring harness for your car.

You can use the WRX Limited which has the same style manual HVAC controls as you do now.

Every other trim piece works okay

/\ Thanks for the info.

I was considering the 05+ STi console swap but seems like more work than I care to do without buying a whole dash out of a wrecked car.

...or you could just pick up the shifter trim ring, install it and save yourself a lot of trouble.

Unless you really want the semi-auto climate control.

He makes sense!

Find whatever other parts you can uber cheap , but you only have to worry about the HVAC controls/trim from the TR

PS is that an STi cluster in your picture or just a red WRX one

yes that is an sti cluster....i'm guessing its an 04 sti cluster since the center console trim is from a 04 sti....only thing is the steering wheel looks like its from a 2005 sti

I would actually suggest just buying the center vent part (a direct swap with the old center vents and useless excuse for a cup-holder) and swapping it in. You can leave the rest of the center console unchanged. I personally did this and I like the look much better than what the car was originally like, and the cost was very minimal (i got the part used). If you want to do the console swap, there are threads here about it, but it is very involved and involves lots of parts including moving the handbrake (which was the reason I didn't do it, I prefer the handbrake placement in the v7 and early v8; I don't like the late v8 and v9 handbrake placement).

That's deff a 04 STi steering wheel.

If you do more searching (even under my past posts) you'll find quite a bit information on swaps, I've swapped a few interiors from 02-04 to 05+ interiors.

I hate to say it, but this topic comes up in a new thread more often than it should

It comes in the silver color that most dashes come in, it has to be painted if you want it a different color.

I have mine Plastidipped and it looks pretty good IMO, I have multiple pictures in previous threads.
