What materials did you use UK-Wagon? 2x 90* bends welded together? Also what size pipe, stock id of 47mm or different 50mm?
Thanks

The flange in the pics was for mock only, its non functional! I made that so i could make a jig. All I needed was the setup and bolt locations so i could accurately make the Jig for the Flanges that are coming from Kamak/kinugawa. I have not purchased any tubing yet because Im waiting for the flanges to arive first. The flanges have a recessed edge for the tubing but they dont give me diameter measurements. I can buy the needed tubing here in town which will be Real 304 stainless, wall thickness and size will depend on the flange and what I can work with there.

I dont plan on using pre bent tubing, it for sure will be a 2 piece "pie-cut" of tubing to give me my correct angles and flow. It will all be tig welded and I may look in into coating them through Swaintech or a local coating guy I know.

** Ive also got some (2.25 to 2.75), (2.5 to 3.0) Silicone couplers coming for test fitting intakes on the stock turbo. This way I can have it functioning here in a few weeks or less. Once its done, Ill post Videos, pics and all materials needed and where to get them. This whole deal will be cheap IMO. If these become popular Ill be selling these to a friend who is a Vendor here with a great web site. Ive talked to him about it and hes willing to agree on a VERY low price of what I tell him. I dont want to throw out what my "predicted price" is until Ive built a few of them and figure out what my time into them is.

*Im thinking of buying that materials for the intake system too. The place I buy that stuff from gives me a great discount as it is. So at least many of you will just have to modify the Down pipe and thats it.

I don't have a jig for the down pipe. That would be something quite elaborate, and I don't have the time or the space to make one. However.... I'm 99% sure of how it needs to be modified. It looks pretty simple and when that time comes, I'll have tons of pics to show how I did it.

Modding you're guys Down pipes isn't really something I'm all that interested in as of now. All due to the fact that I would have to test fit every single one on my own DD. I sold my wagon today... So I don't have a spare car to keep down for down pipe modding.

I may change my mind on that depending on how easy it is to mod them. But that time will need to wait until that step comes.

So as far as the downpipe is concerned, I was looking at my catless invidia V3 since it's off of the car right now and I think the modifications would be very straight forward. I think if one were the cut the pipe right at the junction between the cast bell mouth and the pipe, then rotated it so it matched the turbo orientation and and added a little bit of 3" to make up the height difference you would be in business...at least with an invidia.

Do you see any reason why one couldn't use a Grimmspeed EWG up pipe with this adapter? Seems like this (EWG + rotated) would be an awesome setup for those of us trying to push the VF39s to the limit.

ok,for the dp it's the same position setup mostly for stock location group sti the earlier years, but we have bell mouth and stock the flat flange,is it possible to rotate in a way, with a new uppipe setup and dp setup without cutting anything, just bolt on's.I know a dumb question but wondered if it can be done,or too much of a hard turn for the exhaust to exit.Wish I had a welder and knew how to i would spend money on these flanges and try.or could send some your way.

Making a Dp from scratch is much harder than you think. Id rather buy cheap ERZ bellmouth pipes and modify them and coat them. That would be faster and easier.

Yes the DP will work with EWG's. I have one on my car currently

its nice to see how nasioc has evolved over the years... I brought the idea of rotating a small stock location turbo back in 05' and I got some flamage over it saying it was a waste of time. Its a different generation more open to new stuff on here now. Its nice to see!

Burschur racing had done this using a 20G and it actually spooled much faster in the rotated location. Less turbo inlet piping. But they didnt get any support over it so they abandoned the project.

Please keep this going as ive been waiting to see the results of a rotated vf39/43/48 since I joined this forum.

A shop could produce a "rotate your stock turbo" kit and sell if for 300-450ish, hell maybe even $500, it would be a hit. Custom downpipe, uppipe adapter, turbo to tmic pipe, and intake tube with spot for the stock MAF = done.

Yeah, I know it's not anything spectacular, but I'm pretty stoked about it. Sounds like a few others in here are down for the cause as well. I would have def just paid $4-500 if something was available.

I've just been ordering and installing other parts while my car is down and I'm waiting for this adapter. Finally got cusco motor mounts installed. I've had the cusco trans mount for a while. Still have no idea where I'm gonna get the down pipe modified at. Around here I'd probably need to have my car delivered to an exhaust shop to get it done correctly.

Also, my gf picked up an 02' bugeye. We're trying to find a 6mt package deal for a swap. I bet her car will be running before mine and it's being shipped from Connecticut to Florida.

Little update, got the adapters in the mail the other day. But i need to finish up 3 engine builds for friends of mine ASAP. So itll be about a week or so before I can get back to fabing the final product, then messing with the down pipe. So stay tuned and stay patient!

I WILL DELIVER ON THIS VERY SOON

Count me in as someone who is EXTREMELY interested about a kit. I had a thread going on here about this very same issue

@Type2, your thread was the closest I could find with information about doing this prior to me creating this one. I'm ready to buy this adapter soon as UK has the goods! I destroyed the stock intake inlet while removing it (and it felt so good). No turning back now!

If you do this, for the sake of everyone following, please take detailed notes and pictures. My main priority is getting my dd back on the road so I may have to do this in the future. I sent a PM to Tigwerks a couple days ago about fabbing something up but no response yet. We'll see.

That is interesting. Are you implying you want to make more of them?

I'm kinda just waiting around...helped a buddy install some downpipes on his bmw 135i yesterday. Never buying one of those. It would be cool if this adapter happens so I can get my car back together.
