When I was stock I would just wait for the first yellow to hit then I'd smash the gas and let up on the clutch to get the car rolling. Then I pulled my foot smoothly the rest of the way off the clutch after the car moved, kinda like picking your foot up off the ground after you have just stepped on a piece of gum. A bit of wheel spin and your off. Just keep it smooth, don't be jerky and you gear box will like you for it. IMHO if you don't get a little wheel spin you will bog and add extra shock to the drive train.. Good Luck!

is drop/slip the same as sidestepping the clutch? (Letting it pop up its self)

no no no no no! do not let the clutch release on its on weight. You hafta drop the clutch w/your own foot's weight... but very little...
pretend like you just stepped in dog ****, and you hafta retract your foot bak...

1. Before triggering the second yellow light of staging push the clutch all the way in and come to a stop. Release the clutch until the car starts BARELY moving forward, remember that "position" and put the clutch in all the way in until you stop. Then do the same thing until you stage but hold the clutch right before the "position."

2. Rev to 5500 while making sure that the car isn't moving

3a. Do what the guy said about lifting your foot off of a dog that you stepped on. (You have to feel the clutch engage, it is just something you have to practice)

OR

3b. Side step that mug if you have the tires pumped up to max PSI and you have enough saved for another tranny. (You have to try it sometime! )

Note: If you are on a track that is uneven, use the e-brake. This works pretty good even if you are on a level track because you can build boost quicker by pulling the brake up higher (more clicks) and letting off the clutch a little more than in step three. You will feel the car trying to move. Once the second yellow light goes, start releasing the clutch and drop the brake. It takes some coordination though.

that is my method for when I race at Irwindale, since the track seems to make you roll forward when stopped at the christmas tree. I usually hook it steady witih the e-brake and hold my revs around 5k to 5500 and slip out the clutch. This has resulted me in 1.88 60' on 17" rims. Hope to improve soon.
