105,850 miles since I bought the car at 3 miles. Never gotten a better average than 32. Typically at 29.7. Mixed driving. Lose about 2mpg when the roof rack is on.

Sounds about right although I tend to stay 28mpg or so because of the idiot drivers and piss poor traffic light timing around here.

Just reset my mpg, I do it whenever I change the oil, and in the first 190 miles on my daily commute my average mpg is at 34.5 which includes a little city driving.

Default MFD average mpg display vs real-world display

Hello all, I'm new to the forum. I have a 2013 Impreza Sport since June. I have been keeping track with all of my fill-up. Average 28-29 combined. Getting into winter in CO it's taking a dip but it's expected since I have to warm up longer. However, I have been noticing that the MFD avg mpg is consistently higher than my record by 2 mpg (I tried to be consistent with all of my fill-up, almost full tank, no excess pumping, trip mileage and avg mpg is reset after every fill-up). I bought this car used so I don't know if the prev owner changed the MFD or not. Is this a common problem and is there anyway to fix it? screenshot: https://flic.kr/p/2hA7x3z

Only adjustable by a dealer, +\- 6, i had mine done when new so it didn’t cost anything

Your odometer is probably off by 3% too....

i can corroborate both your experience as well as Flyboy's:

on average, the computer is over predicting by about 2 mpg overall. but a the same time, the odometer on my 2012 is off by about 3%. so in the end, i mentally note that what shows up on the computer is about 1 mpg too high.

Thread revival!

'12 Impreza "Sport", 130k, 5spd manual (New longblock at 103k)
(Edit: Probably should mention the ~150 lb. of tools, etc chilling in the hatch. I should leave them since the car is plenty reliable, but I just can't. I like being able to help out when I see someone sitting hood up, face in palm.)

Condition 1: Best. Avg mpg: 30.1 calculated (32.1 dash)
That was a 1am drive from Richmond VA to Rodanthe NC and back. Sadly I didn't record the avg speed. I generally run 9mph over in anything over 35mph, and nobody was on the road. Pretty ideal conditions for good mileage (well, aside from my tools and my +9mph habits).

Condition 2: High speed interstate. Avg mpg: 25.7 (27.3)
I81 Staunton to Blacksburg and back, moderate traffic, somewhat heavy on the gas when needed to get around trucks and idiots. Probably 25 miles of city driving mixed in.

Condition 3: Heavy traffic interstate. Avg mpg: 24.5 (27.3)
Same as 2, but one way (Staunton -> Bburg) with heavy traffic with mixed in stop and go, and ~40miles city.

Condition 4: Worst case. Avg mpg: 21.7
Mostly city, heavy pedal (was testing oil consumption vs driving style.)
Ummm...this is embarrassing, I can't find this one in my notes, so I don't remember what the dash reading was. I'd rather not do this test again either, oil consumption more than doubled vs feather pedal.

Off topic because wrong car, but...
2016 Impreza with 23,000 miles last summer. Round trip from Louisville KY to vacation in Chautauqua NY where car was parked for a week. Maintained Interstate speed limit. Display showed 42 mpg at end of tanks, but math indicated 40 mpg each way.

I’ve had 3 different Impreza models and they all get about the same MPG… not the best. My base 2.5 Impreza 2006 got low 20s, my 2011 WRX got 18-21 avg, and my 08 STI gets 21-23 avg. it all depends on how I am driving them and what roads I’m on.

On average 25-27 mph. Probably close to 350-400 miles per tank

subaru impreza 2010 2.5i

I just got the car and noticed fuel consumption a little high. (montreal, canada)
Mostly city driving 5km max. all stop and go

1. CITY driving got 15.2L/100kms, which I find high.
2. Highway 1 trip so far got 8.8L/100kms - acceptable.

Any things/thoughts on CITY?
