Default 5eat to 6mt/5mt swap questions. (05+ LGT)

Hi everyone. I'm looking to do a manual swap on my 05 LGT. I've heard reasons not do perform this swap ie: "It would be more feasible to trade in your car for a manual LGT" or "An IPT upgraded trans would be easier" First of all, it is not at all feasible in my case and the feedback from a MT cannot be simulated from a subaru 5eat. If I did so, I would have more payments and a much slower car. I have yet to see a 5eat to MT conversion. A manual swap would enable me to unleash more power than my 205k 5eat can not handle. Being mechanically inclined, I am up for a new project and a challenge. I know I will be needing the following.

- Manual driveshaft
- Manual cross braces (possibly?)
- Pedal box assembly
- Master, slave
- R160 diff
- And a plethora of wiring

I understand a Spec-b or 4eat drive shaft is compatible with the 6mt trans. and that the ECU and TCU are seperate so a MT ECU may not be necessary. It would be nice to keep my current 5eat ecu so I can retain my tune.
My questions are:

-What are the differences between the GD's Pedal box assembly and that of the Legacy's? Will I be able to use a GD pedal box?
-Can the 5eat cross braces be altered to fit a manual?
-What type of wiring will be needed?
Other questions may arise. Thanks in advance guys.

~Steve

There is a reason it has never been done, it simply is not worth it. If you want a manual that bad, bring your car back to stock, sell it,and buy a comparable 5MT car.

There will always be opinions on it, but I think the reason it hasn't been done is cause there are so many LGT's out that are 5mt's still, the rarity bug hasn't hit on the newer ones yet.

Once you get passed the petals, and basic wiring, you're going to need an ECU, the 5eat ECU is going to hate the fact there is a 5mt trans hooked to it, and Idk what will arise from that. Just an additional comment. There is a guy here in AK that did a 5mt to a sti swap on his 05, so if you're serious you could pm me and I'll let you know who so you can ask about axels cause he has a huge issue with axels I remember that. And drive shaft.

if you find ecu tcu and tranny from 05+lgt spec b or something along those lines than it shouldn't be that difficult imo. first find ecu tcu pinouts to see whats different and go from there. gl

bump! This has been done twice at least on the LGT, and documented thoroughly on legacygt.com.

Wire a microtech computer in, get rid of all the other ecu's take it back and get it tuned. That ecu and others like it can control everything water meth injection timing and duration, run down times, boost extra injectors say for running pure methanol whatever you want. Not sure how much they are in the states but there like $1500 cad. All you need is a wiring diagram for your car and away you go.

Bump with similar question - looking to do a EZ30R 5EAT -> 6MT swap this summer and interested in learning more about the wiring and how to pull it off correctly. I'm sure my shop can do it but any extra info I have going in would be a great help.
