Looks good wonder if there was additional labor to make them fit that well.

They are a direct bolt on as the originals are with them being as identical as can be allowed. You can always contact the guy yourself and ask, he is tagged in the photos on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/cabenfibrec...=1&pnref=story

Default Bugeye Makeover

Hey just thought I'd share my new bugeye build...Up here in Canukistan we need to set-up the cars for deep snow, crappy roads, gravel/sandblasting for 6 months of the year.

Flares are just cool on these cars. They just look right...especially on a bugeye wagon!

I decided to do a full color change vinyl wrap in Matte Gunmetal metallic, and while I was doing that, I thought it was time to add customized flares, custom mudflaps, various aero bits, ST coilovers, ARP wheel studs, headlight/tailight protection. Before the internet experts point it out...I reversed the lower rocker aero bits on purpose. With the front flares on the car, the rear piece looked better visually/proportionately up front behind the front flare...just my taste.

Well 2 months of downtime later (spare time in the garage)...I am finally driving her...with the winter wheel set-up 17x7.5 prodrive wheels with massive 62mm/65mm spacers. I have Work 18x10.5 Kiwami's in bronze going on for the summer with (4) Potenza RE11's in 285/30r18 size. There will also be 15mm front and 25mm rear spacers to push them out to right about where these Prodive wheels sit. I built the rear flares 10mm wider than the base flares because a stagger look just seemed to look right given the non-blistered wagon rear fenders and the sedan front fenders. I also started with what were supposed to be Karlton flares for a bugeye sedan ( not sure if they were Forceworks or not as there was no branding on the box or flares). Was told they were Karltons...dunno.

If you look at the rear flares, I decided to make them multi-piece in case of rear bumper contact. I think they should have been made this way from the start as it just looks right and offers better real world functionality in the event of light rear bumper contact. I also bonded the rear set up instead of using fasteners after much consideration. The fastener holes didn't look right using my deeper/wider flare profile. The fronts bolted up pretty much as is with some very minor tweaking.

I have to say wrapping is not fun and I ended up using nearly 70 ft of a 75 foot roll. I had to redo a few panels and trying to do all the door jams was a [email protected]$##.

BTW... the driveline is a stroked 2.1L JDM STI EJ207 with custom built spec-c heads with Kelford cams, +1 valves. Bottom end features coated Mahle pistons, Tomei rods with L19 bolts, Killer B pickup, baffle, ARP studs etc. Reversed 08 wrx plastic intake manifold, perrin rails, ID1300's, Walbro 465, DCCD Fuel Pro, -6 lines, Perrin FMIC. The turbo set-up is rotated IWG twin-scroll 7163 (Full Race) using a Turbosmart WG actuator, Turbosmart eBoost2 control, running 94 pump gas with Aquamist Meth injection. Full 3" vband exhaust, Fujitsubo catback. Trans is V8 JDM Sti with DCCD Pro control. R180 DIff, Sedan control arms, 5x100 Brembos.

^wow man, I LOVE your car! You truly did it right and the rear looks proper. I like how you kept it a reasonable height so you can drive it in the the winter and it still looks aggressive as hell. Then I read it has a stroked 207 and nearly shot one in my pants. I had a bug with a spec c 207 and that was a hell of a fun motor. Props in the highest order!! love it.

Karlton flares weren't available, I had everything else for the setup already so I had no choice unless I sold everything at a loss as Carben Fibre Creations hadn't come out with their flares either. I knew it was going to be bad, just didn't anticipate it being as bad as it was.

The brand whore bolt-on wonder boys can hate all they want, but I've seen the pics some of them are posting of their "OG" flares..... I'm at a loss for words at the laziness of the bodywork on some of those installs. Those gaps! If you're going to parade your original parts around and hate on every knock-off part you see, do us all a favour and install them properly so they at least look good and you don't embrace yourself.

Call me old-school but, a car that's built with taste, time in a garage, scared up hands, and lessons learned, regardless of brands used is head-over-heals more respectable than a car that's just been bolted together with high-dollar parts.

I do not believe this is correct. Yes it has been confirmed the v1's will come back and they will come back before the v2's are released but they have not yet been re-released....

Uhmmm, none of these flares you complain about are Subaru OE or Prodrive widebody kits. They're all aftermarket. Some did their own work, some profited from copying. Morals aside, none of it is OE.

What are you talking about? Do you realize what thread you are in? This is the karlton fender flare thread. Bagel has a problem with people that have copied my design. Nothing has been said about OEM. This is completely about an original design vs. people copying the original design and profiting from it.

That^ go to any thread like the Do luck, volk, advan, EXT. You don't see reps posted in said threads and when one is they get the boot or flamed and told to go to Their own thread. This thread was made for original flares there is a karlton style thread head your way to it. You can call me an idiot. People bitch and complain about how he stopped making them well guess what it's people like forceworkz that made that happen by making crap. It's sad a big company like that has to rip off a single dudes creation for their own personal agenda. Like the great skeeter said GIIIIT OUT.
