I downloaded this, but all that I got was a bunch of zipped files. I unzipped them, but I cannot seem to find the install file to load the program??

When I DL Tari I get a Self Extracting EXE. That extacts files to where they need to be and adds a shortcut to the start menu. Are you sure you DL'ing ECUexplorer and not the DL1 application?

When is what going to work with an '05 STi? ECuExplorer works fine on mine. I just bought a USB adapter for my AP cable and am going to try to DL my ROM image this weekend. It works fine for datalogging both with USB and serial using my AP cable.

Yes, the flash utility (Ecuflash) works for DBW ECUs, now.

Has anyone here used it? Is it stable or worthwhile? Or better to just get Street Tuner?

StreetTuner works great if you already have an AP, and with the recent price reduction ($195?) you really can't go wrong, especially if you are new to tuning. Having real-time maps is really nice when tuning as well.

Ecuflash and the associated tuning tools (EcuEdit currently is the only editor that works with DBW ECUs) take a bit of effort to get up to speed, and are still missing a couple important function that StreetTuner doesn't have: Integrated WBO2 logging and reading of ECU learning maps so you can see how the ECU has learned to adjust timing and fuel. But it's pretty cheap, as you only have to pay for the Tactrix cable ($79+shipping).

EcuFlash also edits DBW ECUs, and computes checksums...

Never mind, the $39 rat shack seriel to usb cable didn't come with the software, had to go to their website and download the drivers. All is good.

Are you sure that's a serial jack you are looking at on the back of your laptop? not a VGA out connection? The AP cable fits into my older laptop perfectly. I suspect that you are confused and that you have no serial jack, only USB. If you are ABSOLUTELY sure it's a serial port, get a gender changer at radio shack.
