^^true dsm? turbo/non turbo? awd/fwd? auto/5spd? sohc/dohc? the 2g (95-99) was one of the better ones i can tell you that. ive worked on enuf of them...but then again that was the "perfect" time for them as for the original fast and the furious...so it could be molested pretty bad and made to "look" nice now...

the scoobaru is washed, waxed, and detailed, just need to vacuum it out and clean the bird crap off the front of the car that i just noticed....just 2" to the left and it would have missed the car!!!

any of you detiling kind of folk...i need you to take a look at my car with me...i noticed that most of the car has a very "rough" so to speak kinda feelin to the paint. any advise?

I'm guessing not enough cars to make it worthwhile for Doug to fly up here?

Oh I was looking at a 99 spyder. I want a convertable with better mpgs than my wrecks. It is red, manual, $5k, 94k miles. I will avoid turbo and awd. I am just hesitant because of the Mitsubishi support and the quality of my roommates Evo X.

Yes it was but it was a 3rd gen eclipse....2.4l sohc fwd 4g64. Now if you took that engine and swapped an evo head on it then you would have a 2.4l stroker and then you could make some decent power with it.....

yes....at most we had about 4 cars that I knew of....so for him...he likes 3 days at least....with a solid schedule....3-4 cars a day...so to divide 1000 per day by 4 cars...for one day...just wasn't worth it...sorry my friend.. maybe next time we can make it
A. more affordable for our locals.
B. more Cars to tune
C. Get the full benefit of a custom tune...

AMS with their $395 flat rate is hard to beat...

Hey Bill, thanks a LOT for trying to get him up here. If we could get more people "on the hook" to make it worth his while I'm sure he would come up. But the economics of it just didn't make it work. I really appreciate your efforts and I'm sure he's going to tune my car when I get to that point. There is a GREAT thread on here about what they're doing. When I spoke to those guys on the phone we just "clicked" and they're absolutely the ones I want to do my car.

My subie will be at the Madison Sports Car Club booth at the subie show! Just talked to them today at the autocross event at the Dells.

I'm talking to Kelly-Moss about a flat rate structure for stage 1 and stage 2 tunes with pricing on par with the other regional shops.
Jim, we'll be working on a stage 2 custom tune for Kevin's car later this summer. I can talk to you some more about that. Doug is good no doubt, but I would love to run 2 similar cars head to head sometime.
If a tune offers better driveability, no knock, and great performance, what more could one want?

I'd LOVE to talk to you about it - your reputation precedes you and that is a good thing! :-) I just know you're a very busy guy.

I spoke to Kevin a bit about it a bit, sounds interesting. Here are my rules: It MUST stay daily drivable - winter too. It MUST stay safe and I'm willing to spend the money or lower my expectation to make it so; I'm not interested in pushing the absolute limits of sense and engineering. That said, my goal is 350-400WHP.

This thread meshes well with my thinking. I'm also a big E85 fan... the Kwik Trip in Waunakee is about to get E85 and they're a half mile from my house.

Talk soon?

Regards,

-Jim

I'll cross post this in the "stoopid questions/statements people make about your Subaru" thread.

So I get home last night from a mileage building drive and my neighbor is working in his front yard at dusk. "Hey, nice wheels! What is that, a Lexus?"

You cut me deep Mike. Deep.

If you paint does not feel smooth after washing / waxing, you most likely need to clay bar your car to remove the built up layers of wax, and the re-wax the car. clay bars work really well.

Just heard "What the....huh...YESS!!!" from the manager's office next door. We're getting 2 end-of-the-year orphans in our inventory in a couple months. WRX+STI sedans in gray!! WTF!!! Hope it isn't a distribution glitch. If not, Jim's car definitely has something to do with it. We only get what we've already sold. In this case, orders for WRX/STI units haven't been on the list for months for most dealers in the US.

So....on another subject, what were the results of the 'Dells autocross?

And another....the Kelly-Moss dyno offerings and tour are still unchanged. Looking for donations for Matt's trophy. Roughly $95 for the total cost. DM is covering the other trophies and offered to cover Matt's as well. I just feel better paying for it on donations so it can travel wherever the meet is held from year to year. Hope that makes sense to everyone.

Bill, we'll definitely need help in the next couple weeks leading up to the event. I'll let you know. Thanks much.

Shannon, I'd also be willing to volunteer some grunt work if more help is needed for the meet.

If there was a post asking for volunteers, I missed it. Sorry! Just looking to offer help to some awesome people.

You're welcome. Tell John he owes me...something. :-)

Dells was a BLAST! Lots of sweet cars and great drivers. Andy's WRX was velcro again with a 42 or 43 for FTD. That car must give you a nosebleed.

Brad's white STi is getting there, I think he was 3rd and he was wearing V710s.

I felt good with my time of 49.6 with the 115HP MINI with all season 175/65-15 bicycle tires. If we were keeping it I might consider getting a set of wheels and 205 or 215 race rubber just to "be that way".

I have a friend that has ALL KINDS OF MINI Parts he would probably let go CHEAP...D/A Koni's, Rims, Sway bars, coming off a 05 JCWorks car...they literally have been in his barn for the past 5 years...To bad your getting rid of it...

On another note...My insurance company(State Farm) has stepped up bigtime for the Speedwagon....Authorized a Complete Repaint of the bumper, Hood, Fenders, Roof, Fog light covers, and Rear Wing....Wow..so I am trying to decide when I want this all done...before the show would be nice......but not sure I would have it back by then...sooo I guess I will see...totally surprised me with the estimate...Did I mention I hate Dumptrucks yet??? :/ ...State Farm Rocks tho..for sure..

Shannon...Just LMK...

How long is the course? Seems like really fast times. Nice driving.

If our photo printer hadn't crapped out, we would have been up there handing out flyers for the show. Believe it or not, I've never been to an autocross. Haven't exactly had any cars worthy of paved racing, yet. I may give Eric at our bodyshop a try at rolling my fenders. Launched the car a few days ago and wound up cleaning the sidewalls with all 4 fenders... Time for new springs, too.
