Ah, didn't realize you need to keep stock headlights for street class. In that case it might be relatively simple to add a duct to either the headlight or the fender. You could even just use something like this in the front bumper and duct it up into the underside of an airbox: http://www.ajhartmanracing.com/universal-carbon-ducts/

Fred at IAG has finished mocking up the dry sump and, of course, no off the shelf header fits with the integrated oil pump. Instead of trying to rig something up by modifying an existing header, he decided to build an equal length header from scratch! Definitely some unique challenges to work around the oil pump but it's coming together really well.

Before anyone asks, yes the oil filter will be relocated. This is just a mockup engine. The tank has a 3 gallon capacity. Looking forward to seeing the finished product!

Yep I'll be there! Unfortunately it looks like the gearbox won't be together in time but everything else is moving along.

I went up to the shop yesterday to do a little spring cleaning (I have about 9 years worth of old parts laying around there, found some stuff to sell!) and put in a little work on the car. Fred and the guys at IAG have been making good progress too. The dry sump system is really coming together, as are some aero upgrades I've been planning.

Header fully welded and mounted, and dry sump pan/pump mounted with gold heat protection. The header is getting some nice heat shielding when it's all done.

In the interest of minimizing engine wear, we are using an in-tank oil preheater, as well as this really trick remote filter mount. You can use a standard power drill to spin the primer and build 20+ psi of oil pressure before starting the engine.

The new GTX3582R Gen 2 Reverse Rotation is mocked up in place and the uppipe is tacked together. Just needs a little adjustment and finish welding. It's yuuuuge.

Finally, the body shop installed a set of front fender louvers to try to improve the aero balance. The car was definitely lacking in front downforce last season so adding these and a few other pieces should help a lot. If we went too far, I can always just add a little bit of rear wing.

I also installed a really trick set of carbon aero mirrors. They are significantly larger than APR mirrors, have internal mounts on the back side of the door skin, and the stems are actually carbon aero tubing. This should reduce drag a lot, and even though they're smaller than stock mirrors, they have almost twice the vision range. Also notice I stripped off most of the old vinyl, more on that later

And just for the hell of it, a pic of a billet block sitting on the shelf waiting for final machining and assembly. This is the kind of cool stuff you see when you visit IAG! One day she will be mine...

Are you still going to run ST/TT2 at this point or move up? Seems like all the bits are in place to go up at this point...

Got a few more tricks up my sleeve but I'm running out of material! And time...can't believe we only have a little over a week before we take of for ATL.

Not at the moment but here is a pic with the old 3076R.

No, I kind of weighed the options and realized it was impossible to be competitive in GTA and keep the car in ST2. The plan is basically to run on race gas for GTA and do a separate pump gas tune to run in ST1/TT1. This turbo should make plenty of power to run there even on 93.

I'm assuming a different up pipe as well as down pipe for the reverse rotation turbo to sit in the car the way it does ?

is the old stuff up for grabs ? I'm going rotated myself in the near future with a tial hotside also

Luckily we're a little closer so don't have to hit the road until Wednesday. Hopefully everything will go smoothly and we can get the car on the dyno on Monday as planned. It wouldn't be racing without the last minute scramble!

Definitely uppipe but I believe he was able to repurpose the downpipe. I can talk to the guys at IAG and see if they have plans for the old turbo/uppipe/header or if they're willing to offload it.

Are you going to put a heat shield around the pulley for the oil pump?

I'm sure having the fan there helps a ton, but that header looks like its mighty close to the belt.

We are using some really nice heat shielding around the header that will contain most of the radiant heat. Shouldn't be an issue at all.

So I have been working on this pretty cool project for a couple months now and it has finally come together. When I made the decision to go to a sequential gearbox, I had initially planned to use the supplied gear lever but I came across a deal on some paddle shift components that a pro team had kept as spares that was too good to pass up. One thing led to another and I decided to start over from scratch with a new steering wheel.

I was going for a GT3 type steering wheel, and I think I got a little carried away but it came out incredible. This was really a team effort, with Jeff at IAG scanning the wheel and creating a CAD file for the carbon plate, Dragonplate actually machining the plate, and Race-Spec wiring everything up. I think it's safe to say this is the coolest steering wheel ever in a Subaru! I have a couple of small finishing touches to put on but it's pretty much ready to go. Here is a list of components used:

-OMP 310 ALU GT wheel
-Krontec quick release with integrated connector
-ASR 4" spacer
-Momo hub adapter
-Custom carbon plate CNC machined by Dragonplate
-Geartronics shift paddles
-Pro-Bolt black titanium hardware
-Otto P9 momentary buttons
-Deutsch Autosport connector

The wheel had to be pocketed to properly fit the Otto P9 buttons:

The plate was machined with mounting bolt and button holes:

Starting the wiring for the buttons and paddles:

Wrapping up the wiring for the wheel:

And the finished product!

Like I said, it needs a few more finishing touches to personalize it but I think it's safe to say that Race-Spec knocked it out of the park. They were super easy to work with and very meticulous about every detail.

Also, my previous steering wheel/qr/button setup is now for sale. PM serious inquiries. More to come later this week as we continue final prep for Global Time Attack Atlanta!

Good choice on the pre-oiler. If I re-designed my dry sump system, I would probably choose that setup now, over removing the belt and priming the pump directly.

It shouldn't be too difficult to add if you are already using a remote filter. The only pain is it requires its own oil supply so you would have to weld an extra bung on the tank and run a separate oil line to the primer.

Nice choice of tank and filter mount, Dailey makes some pretty parts that's for sure. He refers pretty much all his tank business to us at Peterson.
