Roadster maybe? He keeps babbling about rockets, maybe it’s a hybrid system. GM (?) had a turbine powered concept car in the late 50’s or early 60’s.

Sounds like the Berlin Gigafactory is going to be producing Model Y with "Even more" than a single frame casting. Possibly including cell-to-pack.

It's the current status symbol car like the BMW/Audi/Lexus/Infinity of yesteryear. + electric/gadget, and I mean the big screen, the features, and app based kind of car it is. + millennials. |

the demand seems to be solidly above the supply and likely to stay that way until something changes. There are tons of YouTube channels keeping interest in Tesla high. They report on every detail from model changes to battery tech to Gigafactory progress. It's a self-sustaining propaganda force in place of your typical astroturf marketing campaign.

Teslas are impressive cars, no doubt. But the owner/fanbase is so rabid at times that it's off-putting. It's not enough for them to drive their car and enjoy it, they have to tell everyone else around them about how great Teslas are, and if you have a different opinion of them, then they'll shame you to death for still driving an ICE car Most Teslas owners I have spoken to at length aren't car guys nor do they understand what car guys like. I tell them the car isn't engaging enough and they inevitably bring up the instant torque and ask if any of my cars are faster. Well, no they're not, but they're engaging. A Tesla feels like an appliance. There's something to be had about rowing your own gears, hearing a sweet exhaust note, or even just wrenching on your own cars and smelling like motor oil after a long day of tinkering in the garage. It probably makes me sound like an old coot but Tesla owners will never understand this. To them, a Tesla is just the newest piece of tech that happens to be a car. And same as you Dex, when/if I get an EV I hope there will be other compelling options out there. Taycan sure is nice but I don't have that kind of money |

I’m glad to see they are doing well, but I wouldn’t consider this shocking or impressive news. |

OT I drove 13.5 hours to Michigan to spend time with my wife parents. We would have flown if it wasn't because of COVID . The trip was amazing, my kids 2 and 5 were happy, autopilot makes the trip so easy... I wasn't even that tired when we arrived. The trip was supposed to take 12.5 hours but we had traffic and some other unscheduled stops because of the kids. Last edited by juanmedina; 07-20-2020 at 04:49 PM. |

tesla clientele are not working at hair salons. They are a vehicle for those with disposable income. People who are buying a Honda Civic are not buying a tesla. The demographic was probably not hurt to terribly bad by Covid. Just a guess I have.

You're right, SCRAPPY. Not Civic, but they're getting more affordable. TESLA is mostly selling mid-range crossovers. $50k to start. the $44k versions will be available in a few months. |

Middle class workers got hurt also. Some companies cut the salaries for salaried employees while the floor workers saw no pay reductions.

You have to remember that not all owners are like this. These are the narcissists among the owners you are seeing. I could have said the same about the BMW/Audi/Lexus/Infinity owners of the past. We have a few of these types at work. I pull in to use one of the L1 chargers. A few of the Tesla owners are vain and look at me or my car as wasting the parking spot because their Tesla "it takes longer to charge". The entitlement really pisses me off to no end but I also realize they are newbs at driving an EV and like most people I can usually avoid them. I've been very vocal on here about my personal setup because I am happy to never pay for juice, more of a joy thing but you have to read that as some Nasioc member being extremely happy to be saving money. I have never made the Leaf out to be a status symbol. In fact it's been a great way to suss out the superficial and materialistic bitches when out on first dates. It's also the ugliest got damn car I have ever owned and idgaf about that. You watch. Porsche is already in the game, just wait until the BMW and Audi models come. Then it'll be a race for the latest "in" version for the scumsucker POS superficial materialistic f sticks to chase and buy. That's quite a large number of these owners. And they do not want to get into a conversation with me, they'll lose terribly. I'd be asking them all sorts of questions about where the power comes from they use to charge, their mileage per year, ie driving habits, if they are big restaurant people (most of our food waste), etc. Saving the Earf is so much more than just driving a fancy electric car. It's your entire lifestyle. And the future is about you not being an absolute super consumer f tard. |

After about 2 years of owning the Model 3 we are in the process of trading in for a Model Y.
I know some people hate Tesla, but man, it's an awesome experience overall. I really dislike driving ICE cars now (and I don't mean bc of oil). I'm hoping the next STI will be awesome so I can have both (I had a 2018 STI and 3 WRX). |

I don't hate Tesla, moreso just some of the obnoxious owners but Pre makes a good point, not all of them are stuck-up pricks. In fact, most of them aren't, it just so happens that the obnoxious ones are also the most vocal and in-your-face about it.
My dad has a 75D and every time I drive it, I can't help but get a childish grin from ear to ear when I mash on the accelerator. That said, it's still annoying when Telsa bros say stuff like "why would you ever drive a regular gas car ever again" as they brag about their Model 3. Again, these are people who aren't car guys and who don't understand what car guys are into. The Taycan is amazing and personally I am very interested to see what other automakers bring to the table as far as EV goes. Philosophically, I would rather buy from company who is an automaker first and foremost. We've seen from Tesla time and time again that they've run into QC issues, in large part because of their inexperience in building cars, despite their batteries and tech being pretty damn good. |

That being said, I love driving a manual/clutch, but Tesla is the next closest in terms of driving enjoyment. Oh, and while I'd say some Tesla people (who don't wave) are just luxury car buyers, the ones at meets and on the forums are all engineer/tech people like how the WRX used to be in the 2000s. |

I’ve had a Leaf, a RAV4 EV, and a Model 3. And I’m going back to gas, because a Land Cruiser-type form factor works better in more situations for my family of 5 + skiing + biking + possibly towing adventures. , |
