Wow, looks like they did pull it. Wonder why. I love mine.

I have a buddy with an 17 Atlas that's had a crazy leak, probably unrelated but have to wonder if it's a QC issue.

Has anyone noticed their interior getting hot AF? The AC doesnít work well enough to cool the thing down either. We got white to keep it relatively cool, but not having a vape vent has been a bummer. Itís hands down the hottest interior in a car Iíve owned. Even the MKV stayed cooler with the roof closed.

its a design issue on a lot of vw's. major leaks that cant be solved and lots of creaks and rattles. i have no use for a hole in the roof so im fine with it.

mine is really hot but cools down fairly quickly, im not tinted yet though. i thought the perforated leather would be cooler, but they feel warmer to me. i did go through obdeleven and my car actually came set to "hot country", the car was from an ohio dealer.

https://www.golfmk7.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20082

if any of you want to do the obdeleven coding, i have the dongle and pro app loaded on a galaxy tab 2. its not married to a specific car and can be used on an unlimited # of cars. just a deposit and shipping back and forth.

Question

...if we're talking about the current MKVII Golf R (U.S. spec), the sunroof hasn't been an option.

It's hotter than hell's butthole here but with tint and a sun shield, it doesn't seem any worse than any other car I've owned and the AC does fine. I purposely got cloth seats for that very reason. Dark colored leather in the summertime is hell.

My exterior is Tornado Red, FWIW.

I just saw that. 40 different custom colors but they'll cost you $2500.

The five regular colors are free of charge as usual.

Some of those blues are great. Not $2,500 great though.

$2500 for a custom color isn't bad at all. I think Audi charges a lot more for the same thing. Porsche charges like $5000.

Makes a huge difference. I actually had to turn this off, because my car is too cold.

Default 2018 Volkswagen Golf R

2019 VW Golf R Won't Be Offered With a Manual Transmission in Some Markets

Volkswagen Golf R enthusiasts living in the United Kingdom, I have some bad news for you: Volkswagen will drop the availability of a manual transmission from its portfolio starting in 2019. The decision was made due to the low demand for the three-pedal option.

The Drive learned of this important change to its U.K. Golf R models through a Volkswagen of America spokesperson, who confirmed the change via email and also mentioned that U.S.-bound Golf Rs will still offer the old-school transmission. In fact, he confirmed that demand for manuals was still at healthy levels in the United States.

"We sell about 50 percent of Golf Rs with manual transmissions here in the U.S. - it is a higher percentage than GTI," said VW spokesperson Mark Gillies.

While this announcement might calm down many Golf R enthusiasts in the U.S., we are not sure if the manual transmission will once again be offered as an option in the upcoming Mk VIII Golf R models, and VW did not comment on the matter. However, VW-owned Audi recently announced that starting in 2019, it will be removing the manual transmission option from the A4 sedan and the A5 coupeówhich means there won't be a single Audi model available with a manual transmission in the United States.

If the trend of axing the manual transmission in cars manufactured by the Volkswagen Group continues, the row-it-yourself gearbox might soon come to an end.

I wish vw would do a better job with the manual for the R. It's a sub-par trans compared with the rest of the car. Easy to remedy, but it should have come that way from the factory. Stronger clutch, and no delay valves in the lines. Shorter throws would have been nice too. I'm still happy to have it. It's cool to hear a manufacturer say that the sales are still strong enough in the us to keep the manual.

The factory shifter was my only complain with my GTI. The throw was just unnecessarily long and a bit softer than Iíd prefer. That being said, I never put a short shifter in or stiffened it up.

I did put in a short shifter in mine and some bushings and it greatly improved the transmission. But I would agree that VW should improve the stock shifter.

Three consecutive years with the same power output, for the U.S.
Stricter emissions in Europe, and they got a power boost.
We lag a model year behind them, so we'll have to wait to see what '19 has in store.

That review is spot on.

US likely didn't get the power bump because we lack the port injection that everyone else gets. Sell sheets are all out for the '19, no power bump for North American market, but you will be able to custom order colors in the US market finally (Canada has been able to).
