Default 04 sti, vf 39, large tmic, small hood scoop?

I know ill prob get some harassment for wanting to do this, But I would love to get rid of the giant scoop on my 04 sti. FMIC is the obvious solution, but I dont want to jack with bumper beam (safety) and I will be keeping the vf 39 for the forseeable future. I think that going to a smaller wrx hood scoop could be offset by an larger tmic to yeild cooling at least as good as the stock setup? I just thought Id run the idea by you guys, as it is really impossle to say for sure unless somebody has tried and logged Intake T? Any opinions on this????

Just get rid of the hood scoop all together.

It's a design flaw. Leads to water in your engine.

Do what I did. Get rid of the air scoop all together, and run a water line from the TMIC to the cabin. I am using an old Windez bottle, but you can use whatever kind of spray bottle you like. When I hit boost, I give it a couple squirts, and the water travels down the line and sprays the intercooler.

Sorry guys, I thought a technical forum could comment on tmic core size vs intake temps. Or perhaps somebody with an o6 sti could coment on if they get heat soak on their stock tmic and small hood scoop. I though their may be more to disscussing technical aspects of the car than seeing who can stuff in the largest turbo.

just run your IC piping into the interior of the car, right in front of the steering wheel. then just blow on the IC as you drive to keep it cool. the faster you go, the more you'll have to blow, cuz it'll get hot.

if you have asthma this may not be the best solution for you.

I do the same thing except I put the Windex bottle under my throttle. It's like NOS yo!
