I went back and forth between the Focus ST and my Mazda for the longest time. I live in Las Vegas, AWD is irrelevant here. I just wanted whatever car but the biggest smile on my face. In the end, I went with the MS3 mostly because the ST felt a like a more subdued car between the two. The ST was a pretty awesome machine though, so congratulations on your purchase.

IB more shock and awe that there's people out there that went from a Subaru to a FWD car. Oh my gawsh the hughmanitee.

I test drove an st before and cornering was nice. But my wrx with a 20mm rear sway bar and the scoot you get from awd makes it feel like it is on rails. Didn't get that feeling with the st. Reminded me more of the civic si with more torque. Felt less control on the rear wheels which made me feel nervous pushing it harder. Never felt that way in the wrx.

Good luck in any other surface and conditions other than dry pavement.

FYI. I still think the focus st is a fun car and if you are happy with it then more power to you.

I've actually driven next to a handful of the STs and am not opposed to them.

FWD cars are a lot of fun, wish this community could see that.

It's not like AWD isn't also partially FWD, oh noes!

Yea, they already did. That's why he is in one, and myself as well. I got my loaded ST3 with all options for $25k ($5k under sticker).

I'm glad the OP finally finally got one. It is a blast. I got mine 2 weeks ago and just turned over 1k miles. First few tanks were at 26.x mpg daily driving. My recent 200 miles back from Wisconsin got me a hand calculated 34.1mpg.

They might not be for everyone but I love mine. I'll DD it 99% of the time and its great for it.

What will I think in a year? Who knows, but its the first car I've really loved since my 05 WRX (2011 WRX and Veloster in between)

What kind of MPGs do you get out of the MS3?

It's a shame people think fwd is some setup that is always a pain in the ass to drive. I notice hardly any torque steer with this car. Next to none.

For a daily driver it's a non-issue

Still thought the st was fun as hell driving it. Accelerated quite well. I was like.. " this is a factory performance grade focus... nice work ford". Unfortunately the one I drove didnt have recaro seats, but still pretty fun.

I like the feel of awd though or even rwd for that matter.

Don't care for that dust buster front end grill though....

What's worse: MyTouch or the stock Subaru stereo? Hmm....

The ST is a pretty neat car, but I've sworn off wrong-wheel-drive sporty cars due to past frustrations with them. There's just nothing fun about spinning front tires.

How many miles? Did you reflash back to stock? Did they know about you being stage 1?

How's the sound system? I like the st, just wish there were 3 door options for the fiesta/focus st. It'll be interesting to see how these cars maintain value on the used market.

Also, I agree with the st looking less boy racer than the wrx. I am tired of attention... One of the first things I would do to my car would be a front mount and swap the hood.

Congrats on the new car. I looked the ST before I bought my WRX. I really like it was was even going to test drive it until I sat in it and my upper thighs/hips dug in to the lower bolsters of the Recaros so bad it hurt.

I'm not fat either, I'm extremely fit, but still they are clearly not designed for linebacker types. When the salesperson came back with keys, I told him that I wasn't interested in testing driving the car because of the painful seats, and he said that he gets that complaint a lot and doesn't understand why Ford would put such narrow seats in the car. This is America after all, I buy a size L shirt here and I need an XXL shirt in Italy.

Anything with that big gaping mouth/grin like the current generation 3 is, is not better, IMO. Each time I see one I think of TowMater from the movie Cars.

Now I own a 3 myself but the from the first generation. Actually the first year for the 3, back in 2004. Which IMO is the best looking year for the car This current gen really looks awful though. Yes, the interior is nice and and it handles well..but its face is...
Thats why I have held onto mine for as long as I can.

I am glad they finally gave it a make over the new version looks good. Though I will stay away from a first year, mine had multitude of probe.

Lol, really?

Where can you get 300 hp cheaper new than any one of the pony cars? Or 400 hp for that matter? Ford offers the most powerful production V8 anywhere in the world right here in the US. Not to mention fun cars like this ST. I don't think you could be any more off base here, this is the golden age of performance automobiles with all of the great choices out there, especially American ones.

Gas prices never really bothered me, if I was worried about how much a gallon of gas was then I wouldnt be in an STi. I love the power and the modification options these cars offer.

I never had that feeling in the American cars I had
I have a feeling that if you picked any random American performance car right now, you'd find much a bigger aftermarket for it and much cheaper parts.

You realize that foreign manufacturers essentially invented the fuel sippers, right? And then Toyota blew the market wide open when they developed the Prius. The notion that America only builds fuel sippers is laughable.

18,000 miles. Back to stock, and yes.

Sounds system sounds fantastic. Now keep in mind I'm not really an audio noob, so I had a buddy of mine mess with the settings, but it sounds fantastic. I love how clear/crisp everything sounds compared to the wrx stereo.

I'm fit too. 6'3" 185lbs. At first they hurt, but they seem to be breaking in or something? I don't know, but they are comfortable now. Or maybe I'm just learning to sit in them properly lol.

All I will say is I'm glad I got them. Almost got an st1 just for the regular seats.

I agree with the performance part, but where in america can I find a real AWD, manual that puts out good horsepower? Or just a manual awd vehicle in general? And not the crappy fwd with rear wheel assist style awd.

Edit: also have that same car hall a couple of kayaks, have a lot of space for camping or any other activity (practicality with performance) that requires more than a sports car can handle?

An alarm clock has better sound than a Subaru.

Congrats on the purchase. I'm jelly.
