I personally think the new age 2.5RS/WRX looks naked without the spoiler. It looks like an econobox to me. Some of the STi/WRC spoilers look nice, but I have yet to see a "wing" on a WRX that doesn't make me throw up in my mouth. I hate wings on any car. They look retarded.

spoilers do have a function. spoilers usually start working at 60mph+... I personally noticed a huge improvement in stability after I added an STi Front Lip, and I have a stock wing. Now I can only imagine the improvement when adding a more effective wing. However, huge wings that create tons of downforce can actually rip your trunk off, so there is a limit to wing size. And if you got no power, (like a base model civic) dont even think of getting a big wing cuz it only slows you down more.

Well....engineers spend millions of dollars doing research when making a car... I don't think they just slapped on an oem spoiler for no reason.. it's there for a purpose.. =)
same thing goes for guys who drop their cars too T_T |

I chose to keep my 3 grand and let the dealer sell his ugly rims and pointless spoiler to someone else. |

wing is a must for the wrx...IMO..
it's a sport sedan and it looks weird without a wing... |

i think it looks cleaner and classier, and has much more "sleeperness" with no wing. an m3 is a sports sedan and that thing sure as hell doesnt need a wing . not to say a wrx looks as nice as an m3 but you get my point.
As for the downforce, my bet is that only the oem had any thought put into it, and half the other aftermarket wings people put on only produce drag and don't do anything useful i.e. form over function. |
