Do they come on when you turn your headlights on? Does the little green dash light come on?

They are designed to only work when the headlights are on, and when they are illuminated, there's a light on the dash to tell you they are.

Congrats, must have hurt to trade it in but you will be absolutely happy with the gas mileage and at the pump. That is why I didn't spend the extra 4K for a new WRX.

Nice job on the grill! Did you have to remove the front bumper to remove the grill? I tried yesterday but the 4 screws that attach the grill to the front bumper held up my progress. I couldnt remove the top screws.

Other members: Any thoughts?

Does anyone have any information on the 2012 sound system? I want to hook up my Amp and woofers (aftermarket) and am wondering if there are preouts from the Navigation Headunit I can use and also wondering if there is already a Power source near the trunk sufficient enough for a small amp.

I don't know about the nav mod but I can tell you from the base there isn't many real options besides whole new headunit and running a power source from somewhere else. You should try the 2012 stereo replacement thread though for some info and ideas

Why dont you take out the headunit?

its a few minutes worth of a job and probably much faster than waiting for an answer.

top screws are the easy part, just pry the inner edge out with a screwdriver.

I removed it the first time, but came out crappy, peeled it, got lazy the 2nd time and just sprayed it while on the car and taped off rest of front end with newspaper and painters tape.

what really? so you didnt even unscrew it? you just pryed it off the front bumper?

Your car looks really good btw. Love the black theme. Now tint your tailights and get tinted! Seeing your black car makes me miss my previous black G35.

Did you remove all 4 wheels and paint them at the same time or did you jack up the car one corner at a time and did them one by one?

If you leave them on the car you don't really need to jack them up, but taking them off will make it a lot easier to thoroughly clean and make sure the dip is applied evenly.

What? No. The black plastic screws on top of the grill pry off, after that theres metal screws and clips you have to deal with. Thats why i ended up spraying it on the car.

Thanks!

Yea i kinda like the theme, im just afraid of making the car too black on black and lookin ricey? Gonna work on trying to remove tails this weekend to tint em.

I removed 2 wheels at a time. And sprayed em off the car. I wasnt sure if the plasti dip would affect brakes or spray on something it wasnt supposed to.

I would reccomend takin the wheels off, esp. if youre gonna spray the inside of the wheel. I think Im gonna add another layer to them soon to correct some imperfections.

.
Ya, the metal screws were my problem. But you were able to remove the metal screws without removing the bumper?

It won't look ricey. It'll look really good.

My tails were tinted without removing the tails.

Yea the screws were a pain. I angled a screwdriver that got just enough tread to start turning em. Good thing they werent that tight.

Was it film or spray? I was gonna spray em because it seems easier/cheaper and I dont want to deal with the chance of overspray on the car.

My solution to keeping it non-rice is to just tint em and not black em out. So i was thinkin 2 coats of vht nightshades. It looks like 4 coats is essentially black out.

Might add a coat to headlights too, but i think you have to remove bumper to get em off which sounds like a pain.
