The headlights in those pictures ARE on. The angle I took the picture at and the fact that it was daylight hours just made it harder to see. If I take a picture in front of the car at the headlight level, the lights are pretty blinding at the correct level. The housing is pretty good at keeping it low enough and dispersed pretty evenly even though the housing is stock.

The problem is that you installed HID bulbs in non-HID enclosures (if I read your post correctly). It's probably not a good idea to install those in the stock enclosure. There was a thread on here a little while ago about someone who did that on their WRX and the light ended up catching on fire due to the increased heat.

Correct. It is the non-HID enclosure. The headlights are perfectly fine with the non-HID enclosure because they have more 'breathing room' in there. The fogs, not so much of course. The bulb has much less space to dissipate the heat. I will def consider changing at least the fog light enclosures, hearing that it can end up catching fire is not something i want to risk (who does). Ill be looking out for any signs of over heat until then. Dont have much experience with HIDs so all input is appreciated. Thanks Angelus911!

The lights were kind of interesting. When i had my friend tint the car I had bought the HID kits off of him and he wired it all for me. Originally id do it all myself but since I work so much now, its hard to find time to play around with these things. The headlights are 6000k and the fogs are 3000k yellow i think. I will have to double check on the fogs. I did not change the daytime running lights though.

What I had done was change the bulb itself to HID and add a ballast to each bulb. The HID kits came with ballast, bulb and wiring. Very simple conversion. How is the beam pattern with the HID headlights?

It's not cheap material, the stock bulb is a low power bulb. The house was never intended for use with HIDs.

Here is a shot of the lights on the garage. Best I could do last night, couldnt go further back was blocked by a car. (I probably should have let the lights warm up a bit more, you can probably see that the illumination looks a little unevenly distributed)
I will be looking into changing the housing for the fog lights to support the HIDs

Proud new owner of an Impreza Sport Premium 5-speed in Dark Gray Metallic, first Subie too, but after having been in several I finally took the jump! My buddy has an '11 STI that is an absolute monster, so this is a bit tamer but an excellent daily driver and the stock engine sounds great when shifting. Only thing I absolutely have to change will be the stereo, not huge on the stock head unit.

I'll take better pictures with my SLR once I actually get tags and whatnot since I bought out of state and I'm waiting for the DMV to get the new tags out to me, so for now this is the only picture I have up:

Love it! I had an extended warranty on my trade-in so I'm waiting for the refund on the balance and then I can buy the new head unit and likely get it tinted too. Can't wait!

Sparco Assetta Gara in matte black? What size are they? Looks awesome. I have a four door base 5-speed in satin white pearl with hubcaps...I need to ditch them for some better wheels immediately.

Its a 3M Carbon Fiber overlay. It was a custom make by a shop.

Thanks!!!! =) Cost is minimal though. As far as modding goes. Its still reasonable if you wanted to do it.

Were you able to order it yet? I know they're tough to find, and that there's one exactly like it (white Sport Premium) sitting at Dick Hannah's in Vancouver Washington. It's on their website. Might be able to get them to ship it?

Thanks for the suggestion! But I'm still deciding if I *need* to upgrade yet. If anything, I'll most likely be picking up a 2013 model.

Funny thing is, my mom is on vacation in Vancouver, WA right now and saw the car and called home saying our car was accidentally delivered to Washington!

Ha Ha! I think Dick Hannah has had it for a bit, because they've had it on Craigslist for a month or so. People can see it there. It must be a return or a repo cuz it has 1200 miles or so on it, so it is "used" but they are hard to find and it is there. Funny thing is, they are asking 2k more than I got my Sport Limited for from them, so I'm sure that price is negotiable.

Not trying to sh** in anyone's cheerios, but I hate the new impreza. Actually, it's dreadful. At least the BRZ doesn't suck.

Nice! Did you do the install yourself or was it done by the shop? I can't stand that plastic plate that's supposed to house a rear fog lamp. I understand the tow hook covers since those are functional. But we don't even get the rear fog lamp in North America.

Yes, I think there are BRZ threads as well. I suspect the 2 wheel drive BRZ is to Subarus what the water cooled, front-engine models of the 80's were to Porsche....
