Excellent job on the plasti-dip! I shared it with the local forum. I was thinking about doing this with some future wheels to protect them from Alaskan Evils.

Thanks all for the compliments. I am pretty happy with the plasti dip myself. Next to be plasti dipped will be the outer edge of the grill which is currently silver and matches nothing else on the car.
Also, has anyone found a good vinyl kit to smoke the tail lights? |

I wonder if BRZ center caps would fit in 2012 Impreza Limited wheels?
That would look kinda nice. |

I totally agree @Chanomatik! Next time I go by the dealer I'll measure them. Thanks for the idea!

lol. Yes, borrow.
To plasti dip my wheels I removed two wheels at a time. I jacked up the front first a threw jack stands underneath then swapped once the wheels were dry enough to mount. I have to admit the first two wheels I did were not quite as good looking as the second, so here are my tips for plasti dipping: There is a fine line between too wet, and wet enough. The key for me was holding the can right around 5-6 inches away from the surface. You want all surfaces to have received a wet look without spraying so much that you think it could drip off. Another reason for the 5-6 inches is that if you hold it farther away than that, some of the particles will dry before they hit the surface. This prevents a smooth surface and doesn't allow for a good gloss if you do like I did and clear coat at the end. The pattern I used was sides of the spokes first, then finishing with the top. It was definitely difficult getting the spoke sides of this particular wheel since there are so many spokes. Good luck in your project and feel free to ask any other questions. It was my first time, and I definitely had plenty of questions myself. |

^ Totally agree. The plastidip can come out more matte or more smooth depending on amount applied and distance from surface. Im gonna ad a new layer to mine eventually to correct some imperfections.

I picked some of these for the L's plate bulbs. These actually give more light output then the LED's. http://www.amazon.com/PIAA-19172-Xtreme-White-Wedge/dp/B0002MAHK4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1346778217&sr=8-1&keywords=piaa+license+plate+bulb |

I didnt mask the tire and peeled it off later. I also removed the wheel and sprayed the outside half of the inside with a coat or two.

For masking the tire, using 3x5 note cards wedged around the crevice really well. It also prevents any paint/plasti dip from getting up into the crack on the tire. Not a totally needed precaution, but it was my personal preference to block the tire first rather than try to remove the spray from the tire later. Happy spraying! |

That being said, in a few more years I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for a totaled Impreza with leather. From what I have heard about this, it's just too small of a company to offer a lot of options. Another fail is that black cars come with tan, not black interior. Or the option to choose! |

Thats why I got the DGM. I wanted to stay away from tan interior. i didnt realize how popular dgm was until I found this site.

There's also quite a few leatherette seat cover options out there... But again I would really prefer the oem seats and a steering wheel would be great too! Dang. |

Over spray and layers of plasti dip too thin to be peel off can be easily removed with WD40. Haha, so basically you more or less plasti dipped the whole rim? |
