Default What did you really do to your car today? V3.1

Worked on my tune a little bit earlier while it was still warm out. Made some small adjustments to WGDC and a few other tables. The constantly changing weather has me backtracking, but its back to hitting my 20 psi target and holding 20 steadily up top.

Also set things up to get some more progress on my spare engine build this weekend. Gonna finish disassembling a set of ej205 heads, and maybe slap a 2.5 pan and pick up on my spare shortblock.

Never heard of them - looks like a fairly niche company.

Decided I didn't need these window motor things anymore. Bolted the window holder to secure glass in up position - thinking about how to rivet down lexan and still be able to open the door without critical window flopping at speed.

I have 52lbs more I can lose, not much cash left, and a new angle grinder..

- Picked up a used set of 328x28mm Stoptechs for the Legacy, reflecting my newfound optimism that it will someday live again.

- Heli-coil'd one of the mounting holes on one of the Stoptech brackets. Other than those buggered threads, everything appears to be in good shape.

- Did a quick test fit:

(Stoptech vs WRX rotor)

- Got the Impreza towed home after it died suddenly while out running errands. I'm thinking maybe fuel pump or fuel pump relay? I was doing ~60mph when it died. Coasted to a side road and onto the shoulder. Tried to re-start it as I was coasting, no joy. Once I was on the shoulder I tried again and it did run for a couple seconds, but as soon as I tried to get moving it died again. It would crank over just fine, but wouldn't fire. Of course this all transpired as it was getting dark, so I'll do more troubleshooting when I have some daylight to work with.

Went out to troubleshoot a short while ago. Car started up just fine, ran for 20 or 30 seconds, and moved under its own power. Needless to say, having a problem magically fix itself doesn't give me a warm fuzzy for driving the car anywhere.

Put 40 miles on it after it’s been sitting since November. Wanted to do a week of driving it to shake it down before I list it for sale. Not sure it’s getting listed now.

- On the advice of a couple folks in the N/A Powertrain forum, I replaced the fuel filter today, and I think that should fix the problem. I drained the old filter out through the inlet and what came out was pretty dark (rust-colored). While the filter was removed, I put a bottle on the fuel supply line and cycled the ignition a couple times to get the fuel pump to kick on. That fuel was nice and clean, so I'm reasonably certain the problem was just a fuel filter in need of replacing.

Very nice! I have the JDM GC crossmember on my coupe as well. Hope they're not getting too hard to find (or expensive) cause I need one for my other car soon

Hmm good to know the dealer can still get the crossmember. The price isn't too bad for being new either....I think I got mine used for 200 shipped a few years back.

Did you catch how many were left over here? The GC parts are dwindling down lol. I bought one of the last JDM GC aluminum hoods last year.

when I bought mine there were 5 remaining, I just logged on to check current stock status and there are 3 in the USA warehouses.

there are 53 Aluminum GC hoods in the USA warehouses right now, just got another resupply of them (35 more).

I plan to buy an Alum hood soon, I've been rebuilding my entire car from back to front. Getting close to being finished!

Well that's good to know that they will still resupply some GC parts that are getting low. For some reason I was under the impression that once they're out of stock here, we'd have to individually order from Japan, or whatever country has them.

Now that I think about it, it was probably 2 years ago when I got my hood and they said there wasn't many left. It was shipped from an Oregon warehouse I think. I felt bad taking one from the west coast people....but now that you said there's 53 here, I don't feel bad at all.

If you need to know availability of any usdm GC/GM parts shoot me a PM and i'll check it out. I have been buying parts for my car that I notice are low stock before they all run out and don't get resupplied.

I majorly regret not buying new Coupe rear quarter window mouldings when they were available. I have 3 sets of them but they are all messed up in some way and it drives me nuts

What year is your Impreza? I'm posting from my telephone so it isn't the best.

I had an issue similar to this with my old 1.8L Impreza. Turned out to be the cam angle sensor. Infuriating, but less than $100 to fix.
