Default washed engine bay, now car won't start CEL on

As the title says. I washed the engine bay of my 04 wrx and proceeded home. at this point the car did not want to idle, barely made it home.

pulled out the AP, got p0244 wastegate actuator solenoid. when i disconnect my MAP sensor the car will run, and just the code for the MAP appears on the AP. what could be the problem?

04 subaru wrx
AP stage 2 91 octane
cobb downpipe
cobb cat-back
ARC intake chamber

You maybe did something to your factory boost controller. Maybe one of the hoses got pulled out when you were washing the engine bay?

When you say "wash"... do you mean "powerwash" (considering you didn't do this at home)? I would definitely look for a hose / connector blown off.

no codes for MAF though, i will try and pick up a new one.

why would the wastegate solenoid code clear when the MAP sensor disconnected? this is the only way the car can run.

i checked the vaccuum lines connected to the boost controller, everything still connected.

perhaps you cracked one of the boost lines...the stock lines get very brittle and break easily. They get very hard and basically if you move them from their cozy little spot they will snap immediately.

i might've cracked one of the boost lines... should i just replace the 2 vacuum lines connected to the boost controller ?

car instantly dies when everything is connected. i've tried going back into stock mode to see if it helps, nothing works.

i'm going to try and order a new boost solenoid but i doubt its the problem since the code disappears once i remove the map sensor plug. and only map sensor code is present.

that shouldnt make ur car not run, it would just run off wastegate pressure... must have done something else. Do you still have the stock airbox or an exposed filter that could have sucked water in it

Did you check the filter anyway?

The reason I ask is because I had a similar issue not long ago. I washed my car and water got on my filter and wouldn't allow me to start it. Dried it up and it started immediately.

Pressure washer vs a garden hose, chemicals, solvents, open flame or heat guns, urine, explosives? The only fact we know is you washed your car and now its F'd up.

I'd take apart the electrical connectors for your boost solenoid and MAP sensor a see if you got water in there. Could be cause of your problems. Check the bulkhead connector too.

Just washed it with low pressure at the coin operated wash. I will double check the connection to the map and boost solenoid again. Its just weird how the car can run with the map sensor unplugged .

There is a right way and a wrong way to wash an engine. You did the wrong way. Using any kind of pressurized wand will force water into areas it shouldn't be,like electrical connectors.

Did you wash it with soap? The reason I ask is because soap holds an electrical charge and will simulate a short in all or most of your electric systems. Happened to my dads mustang, just rinse it out with clean water and let it sit outside with the hood open for a while.

De-ionized water will not. All others will conduct by varying degrees.

What CEL is on? You want to try avoid the alternator and the distributor/coilpacks. I usually use a plastic back to cover them up, as well as, the air filter element. ...and I usually just focus on the hood, firewall, and engine bay. Don't really focus on the engine much. It cleans up pretty well with a little window cleaner/simple green and a wet cloth.

im a detailer at carmax and we powerwash the engine bay. ive only had one issue with a dodge not starting...but then again thats a dodge ha. but i just bought engine degreaser for the wrx and covered the cobb air filter and mass air flow sensor and used a hose and rinsed the degreaser off. no need for a powerwasher imo. you just leave the hood popped and let it dry for a while? sometimes wires and what not will get disconnected if you power wash so just check all the connections.
