Most try a swap with an STI looking to go wingless. Good luck, when drilling the trunk I'd be worried about it leaking afterwords.

Keep looking. Patience. There are STI owners that want an upgraded aftermarket wing and want the wingless trunk.

Keep an eye out on the iwsti forums too. They are out there.

I'm going with an aftermarket trunk as soon as I find one that I like and will be selling my STI trunk.

Yeah, sorry to say man, but spending what was likely a good amount of money on a wing from the dealer was a terrible idea. You'll want the STI trunk as well. Even though the trunks are the same in almost every way, the predrilled holes in the STI trunk are key. You don't want to try and bolt it up to your wingless trunk because you'll have a hell of a time trying to line it up correctly and even if you do, you'll likely end up with holes that leak water through.

Your best bet is to hold out for someone willing to swap. Give it time and someone will come around. Hell, it took 3 months for me to find a wingless WRX with a perfect condition trunk to swap my STI wing/trunk with.

I'd try to return the wing to the dealer if I were you. But don't be surprised if they say they can't take it as a return because it was a special order.

Patience. I get asked for a trunk swap every new person I meet. Eventually they all found their STI brothers who were willing to do a swap.

Have you checked to see if the dealer has an STI on the lot so you can make exact measurements? Or checked to see if they will install it for you?

They are just going to send it off to the body shop and charge way to much.. I don't personally know anyone with an Sti and the dealer will not let me take out the carpet piece on the trunk

Did you order new trunk springs as well? The STI wing adds considerable weight to the trunk. IIRC, the springs on the STI trunk are heavier duty to assist in lifting the heavier trunk.

Double posted, there is no template and I already explained what to do in the 2015 mods page since I have one on my trunk.

My fault thought you were someone else. I apologize, I have an explanation of how to do it in the 2015 wrx mods page. Let me take pics and everything else and I will put it in here.

^ This.

OP, do not ignore this. When I swapped my STI trunk/wing for wingless it was imperative that we swapped the torsion bars as well. If you keep your stock torsion bars with the added weight of that wing, when you pop the trunk from inside the car, it likely won't even open.

Yup. Without the springs from an STI the trunk won't be able to hold itself up once the wing is installed.

your trunk will still open without swapping the torsion bars. I swapped my wingless for a sti trunk without swapping the torsion bars and its just heavier opening but it still opens every time
