Hella Fog light wiring question
Hey Guys,
Are the Hella 500 fog lights supposed to have one or two wires coming from the lamps? I figured that there would be two, one for ground and one for power? But the ones I got have just one wire and I wanted to splice them into the factory wiring. Any thoughts or has anyone done this? Please let me know either here or pm. Thanks! N

Try opening up the lamp by unscrewing the bolt on the bottom front, below the lens. Flip that plastic tab out of the way, then pop the lens out of the housing. You should be able to see where the second wire should be attached. iirc, it's just a metal tab where you slide in the female wire end. Sorry, I'm not an electrician so I don't know the correct terms.

I did just that and found the tab. I figured it was as easy as plugging a female blade connector on there, but I wanted to make sure before I blew up the lights
Thanks man |

Glad to hear it, man. Enjoy the lights, it's a great upgrade. If you're replacing the stock fogs, may I suggest simply cutting the connector off your stockers and splicing them into the Hellas? I've run it that way for years with no problems, so I don't think there's any need to use the Hella wiring.

That's exactly what I was going to do. I actually started a thread a couple of days ago to make sure that it would work and not blow anything in the system/circuit. I dont see the point in running more wire in one's car when the needed ones are already in place.
Did you just use a volt meter to figure which one was the positive and negative coming from the car? or was it guess and check? Also did oyu ground the headlamps individualy or just use the negative cable that is in line with the stock wiring? Thanks man. |
