^Nice rifle ArkansasDave. I'm jelly

Yep, I still have to upload my target. Probably won't get them up until Tuesday, though. I'm in hardcore study mode trying to cram for exams and finish up final projects until then. I'm fairly sure my scores will be at the bottom of the pile, though, so I'm not in a huge rush for them either,

My sanity is long gone. If I don't study straight through I will fail. This semester's classes were real *****es.

What are you studying? I'm an ME undergrad.

So hopefully I'll get a good and somewhat quick answer. I have a case that won't chamber easily. I pulled the bullet and tried to chamber just the case and there was a lot of tension when closing the bolt down. Checked the length of the case and it is a little long but nothing to worry. Trimmed and chamfered anyway to test.

My guess is its because I only neck sized it and the shoulder is too long.

Any other ideas?

that would be my guess. I didn't think they made rifle dies that didn't full length size?

One of the guys I know that shoots competition bolt-action only neck-sizes his brass after shooting for better fit in the chamber.

I don't load, so I'm not sure if that is using a different die, but just saying it is done.

I only neck sized my bench rest brass for a few firings and had to full length size due to the same issue. Once you full length size you should not have the issue any longer. Yo can then fire form again and neck size only for a few more firings.

There are neck sizing dies that size the neck only and you can back the full length die off the shell holder to size the case "less" for a better fit.

I want to resize the cases but don't want to waste the primers or decap live primers. Can I take out the decapping pin and still size them?

Also to clarify these are once fired, full length sized, fired again and then only neck sized.

There are neck sizing dies and full length sizing dies. Some of the competition neck sizing dies even have replaceable bushings so you can customize the neck sizing.

That seems odd. Are you sure you full length sized properly? If you don't bump the shoulder back enough that might be your issue.

I'm very sorry...

I did a complete full resize, with the die touching the shell holder. Maybe I'll suck it up and pull the bullets and full size again.

Picked up a new 3 gun toy today.

This picture isn't of mine, but it will look just like it once my mag tube arrives.

We could always do smaller targets and shoot at say 100 yards since some may not be able to get out to 300 yards. Thoughts?

300 yds isn't the same as small target at 100 yds. Wind will play games at 300yds where a 20 mph full value wind pushes my bullet .1 MOA at 100 yds.
