xD If I were ever to get a mustang it would be a V8 nothing less. As far as the 370z goes lol I don't have that much cash to spend. I want to stay in the Subaru family and not stray away. I'm not looking for balls to the wall power just a toss able car with mpg's lol since I do commute. Plus WRB just looks so damn sexy

Hello Everyone,
I am new to the site and I figured I should introduce myself and elaborate on the ideas I have had on my golden imp. I just bough a 2008 Impreza hatch with a 2.5i n/a with a 5spd manual, and personally....I Love THis Car I live in the Adirondack Park in UPSTATE (the real upstate) New York and i use this as a commuter/work/project car. If anyone reading this dosn't know about where i live then heres a little somthing to help you out
With that being said, i have read a bit on this site as to what is best for my car in terms of wanting more hp and better performance. with this brings some of questions: Can any impreza/wrx/sti part work and fit on any other impreza/wrx/sti? if so, most of my questions are answered...haha if not, what are some parts that would help my performance? im talking mostly suspension parts considering im still in the learning stages of driving a stick and a small car and no matter what, a car is nothing if it cant turn or take a bumb up here. didnt want to make this too long so i will leave it at that. will definitely be posting more!!! yea got that from every other $$happy person on this site who dosn't actually answer questions, just tells some one to get a car they dont have. sorry no happenin at my budget. what i would like would be to get some honest answer other than go get the wrx....which is way to expensive in any respect for me. so does anyone have some good advice? trying to figure out if i can just bolt on parts from other. i know at this point, suspension is the way to go and im lookin at rallitek, but not sure if i can bolt on wrx suspension or not. not lookin to make a race car, but just get a little more out of my buy. i have a background in auto so i understand the power differences between n/a and turbo. i also understand, from reading this site, that yes, i wont get much more in terms of horsepower, but it is possible to get more! which is what i was asking. so again not lookin to get the wrx, just lookin to improve. You aren't going to get virtaully ANY more power out of these cars unless you get an Accessport specifically designed for our cars. Even then, you will see maybe 15hp/tq difference although the mapping is dramatically improved. I think all of the 08-10 WRX suspension minus the front sway bar is a direct fit for our cars. Do what you can with bushings, tires, new wheels and these cars are enjoyable. It's not always about the power. I have a bone stock 04 WRX and I actually prefer the drive and feel of my 08 NA. |

I just want a decent double din headunit that I don't have to plug in my phone to and that I can still utilize the controls on my steering wheel and I am not to worried about my AUX jack because I would assume that the new double din headunit would have it's own. |

What I do personally is I have a 32gb micro usb which I leave in my HU all the time. When I want to change it up a bit, I just bring it to the computer and swap songs around. It's small enough that you don't even notice it in the HU unless you are looking. Even better if the HU has a rear USB drive. |

To be honest, I've built a hybrid intake and added a custom 2.25" catback and that helped a little bit. I've focused most of my excess income towards suspension, which I recommend you focus on. The stock suspension is wayyyy to soft IMO. Buy yourself a rear sway bar, a decent strut/spring setup or decent coilovers, and light weight wheels as well as different tires and you'll have yourself a great DD. A LOT of this has been stated in this thread and various others so ill stop here before i clutter it even more. Feel free to pm me if you have any other questions, since I know starting out with little to no knowledge on a new car is very stressful. Until then goodluck! |

hey thanks alot for the post! i honestly havnt had the time to get underneath my car yet to even really look around (other than the basic check i made at the dealer) does the car already have the mounting hardware for a rear sway? yea i looked at the accessport tuner, they are a little outta my price range for this car project, considering it will only give me maybe 15-20hp i would love a wrx, just right now being a student and trying to start a business its not really in the cards and i needed a car. also any wrx i did look at had like 150k+ miles on it, and knowing any person who owns somthing with alot of power they are probably going to drive it hard, and i didnt want anything with somone elses crapily driven miles on it. deff looking to upgrade to wrx within the next couple years when i get some money its a 2008 with 15,500 miles on it and i got it for 15k after taxes and registration, was driven by an old lady till she died, so i consider this a pretty good deal. also what is the difference between the impreza and the outback sport? i know i should have asked this before i bought my car, but i was just wondering if there was difference in suspension or w.e. |

No turbo parts just bolt on without extensive modification expensive parts and a new ECU. Should have just bought a wrx. Bold on super chargers work. Hard to find and pretty expensive. Avo has a turbo kit for about 3 grand minimum not including the tune time and months of headaches. If you plan on going that rout you'll get something less powerful than a stock wrx and much less reliable. You could look into delta cams, some people on here had them done. IMO to much money for little gain. Performance headers and exhaust, looking at $1300 for maybe 10hp and potentially a low end hp loss. Out cars do not like intakes. Hybrid intake is an option but does little to none for HP. There are also millions of thread on everything above. Reading them would be my biggest piece of advice. The search button is your friend. There is a ton of stuff I missed but this should be vague enough to get you started. Edit: kartracer, fancy and I all posted at the same time. So triple repeat Last edited by Sellars21; 04-14-2013 at 08:34 PM. |

I wanted to keep my 2.5i for a long time but I just commute way to damn much and not putting my AWD to use here in sunny san diego. I was gunna go the project car route (240z 2jz swap) but I need a dependable car atm, plus no where to store my project car . The homeowners association would have a field day if I left it parked in my driveway. The last car we did was a 240z rb25 swap.
