Default 04 forester xt mellow performance exhaust help

I am having an issue finding any performance catback exhaust system that is not loud that will fit the Cobb catted dp. Can anyone help with what will work or what I will need to modify to get an exhaust to work

-SPT
-Borla Hush
-MadDad Whisper
-Greddy Evo 3

is there any modifying i would have to do to get any of the non forester specific catbacks to fit ? i guess thats my main question. i don't think maddad is around anymore i tried contacting them have not gotten a response . i wish they were thats the exhaust my wife wanted on the car. its her daily driver i don't want droning in the car so a quieter setup would be best . she takes out pitties to work in the car.

Mostly just longer rear hangers from Napa or kartboy. I have an STi catback on mine and that’s like the only thing I did to make it fit.

I’d be looking at the q300. I really like the look of it and it’s almost silent till you’re in the throttle. It’s incredibly mellow but gives you some note.

Yeah 04-07 STi stuff fits.

You lose the hanger in front of the muffler but with the rear kartboy hangers it’s solid as heck.

If she wants some nice volume the G200 is a great sounding exhaust. I wouldn’t put it on an automatic though...

She is n an auto trans setup . Once it blows we’re going to buy a built autoand I’ll put a stall in it at that point. Being automatic make a difference with the exhausts ?

Nah I just think automatics with loud exhausts sound awful haha, completely personal preference. I wish I had a Q300 on my auto.

Lol well,if she had her way she would keep it stock. I found Stromung forester specific catback. I’m going to call on it in the morning. That would make life easy.

I have the Maddad whisper on my 07 STI and I love it. It has just the right amount of growl for daily driving and hardly any drone. My EWG is pretty loud but at wot but I can still discern an increasingly aggressive tone to it. It's well balanced.
My buddy has the Borla hush on his 04 STI and it sounds great as well. The tone is slightly different than the Maddad, but I'd still put it in the same bucket.
As Pigboat mentioned, the oem STI exhaust is great if you plan to ride in the trunk with your ear to the floor; I wasn't impressed with it at all. Similar with the SPT, especially for the $.
If you're a bargain hunter, you'll eventually come across a good used set up of you search around regularly. I scored my Maddad from a local guy for only $350 in practically new condition. I wanted an aftermarket exhaust at a pice point that wouldn't make me cringe if I hated it and had to sell it off at a loss... just a thought.

Yes it does make a difference in fitment with an auto. My wife had a JNA catback that had to be modified from a 04-07 STi. It was mounted to a Invidia downpipe.
Reason is the trans are different sizes.
I actually still have it if your interested and would sell very cheap as we sold that Forester

Negative ghost rider. On the 04 FXT the downpipe fitment is the same. You’re thinking of the 05+ LGT where they have the 5EAT and it is a different downpipe. ALL of the GD and SG exhaust parts are interchangeable, every single one.

Update found a forester specific setup http://boxer4racing.3dcartstores.com...ack_p_408.html. No drone and very similar to the maddad whisper. Pigboat was right about the figment also . I asked about the figment with the 4eat . They said it’s the same as the manual. The 5eat is longer . Thanks for all the input guys

I feel like the Stromung is on par with about the Cobb as far as volume, possibly a touch louder than you are aiming for. But I know they sound great.

Downpipe fitment is the same but either the midpipe or axleback is skewed(cant remember). It wasn't a big deal just not bolt on for the auto.

Brought the turboback to the shop for an install and tune and that's what he said he had to do. Maybe they got me for a little extra?

Possible? I run a catless CNT downpipe and a stock 07 STi catback and it bolted up using longer rear hangers. And then like I said the hanger in front of the muffler isn’t used. Fits great, works great. I also have the Grimmspeed adapter in there.

I hope it won’t be to loud. I listened to a few foresters sound clips (tough to tell ) but some sounded pretty quiet at idle and normal driving and got a little louder under full throttle. Boxer4racing said they are pretty mellow and no one has complained when they wanted pretty quiet exhaust. I’m just worried the Cobb dp will make it a tad louder. When I placed my order I told them it was going on an automatic and they told me there was no difference between 5 speed and automatic. Everything will bolt into stock points . Cobb also said the same about the dp I have . I’ll keep fingers crossed .
