Oh. I am sure there will be many modified. Sure. It's their car and they can do what they want. I just think it messes with perceived value. I certainly wouldn't buy a modified one. There is only one modified Subaru in the U.S. that I would want even though I was/am that it was modified. That would be Mr. Heuberger's 22B. |

hahahaha
trust me, anything I do to the car can and will be easily reversed back to stock form or I wouldn't even consider it. my local body shop is painting a new OEM wingless trunk lid for me. the RA winged trunk will be wrapped in a quilt and put in my dark, dry attic for the next owner.

The stripes are subtle. I wouldn't consider them a removal and replacement item though. The black definitely looks more understated. If the appearance is a big concern, I'd just get a wingless STI and be happy. Besides, my definition of a goofy looking car is likely to be different than someone else's. You'd have to check it out in person to see what you can tolerate. |

I bought the car 90% for it's improved handling and weight loss and how that will translate to the track. Then there was 5% for the number plaque and 5% for the stronger engine that will hold up to all the tracking I will be doing.
Also, in response to Mr.BreakIt, the suspension and handling is a HUGE improvement over my 15 Launch Edition, and that just based off the noticeable difference in the curvy forest roads I've been driving through. I'm really excited to feel the difference on the track. |

I'm guessing you at least had an AP and some springs or something on your old car otherwise I'm really surprised. But it is your opinion and you have a right to it but wow. Hands down the best "stock version" driving experience I have had early on in my first impressions. Quote:
And as for the looks. I have gotten nothing but compliments, even from my truck/muscle friends. I do think it looks better in person. Got a thumbs up from a GTR today at a stop light. Last edited by Representexas; 04-03-2018 at 07:14 PM. |

they said in a few hours, they are prepping it, good thing I went and told them not to drill holes for my front plate today. Gonna make them give me free rain deflectors and a car cover if I can. They ****in better I gave em a 1k deposit a year ago.
Pictures will be up in 2-3 hours. Its black BTW. At 1k miles I'm gonna find a 2018 base STi and we gonna do some dyno's to finally see if I got ripped off of my 5 extra horsepower. |

Well congrats can't wait to see the picks. Black is really growing on me with the gold wheels! Make sure they also throw in wheel locks and the front plate bracket unless you are pulling them off your car. |

My Launch had 2,976 miles on it and was completely stock when I let it go. It felt worlds different than my '13 STI that is currently my wife's. Aside from the less harsh ride, I didn't get the same evolutionary leap forward feeling I had with the other cars.
Like I said before, I haven't driven the '18 more than 40 miles yet (not that I drove the '15 very much either). I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised as I get more miles on the clock. However, I really wouldn't be upset if it isn't leaps and bounds better than the '15. I'm being a bit skeptical right now and am trying not to justify the purchase using performance metrics. I do, however, get a wee bit giddy seeing it parked it the garage alongside the other toys. I'm hopeful successful sales of these translate into possible future specialty models. As for the looks, it being a bit edgy / goofy / whatever other adjective is used was one of the most endearing aspects. Kinda like the oversized wing and hood scoop on the '98 2.5 RS that drew me into Subarus in the first place. Not that I'm an attention whore, but I do like something that is a bit off kilter. Congratulations all of you getting your RA's. It's really cool to see Subaru put something like this on our shores. Hopefully you guys convinced them there's a market for more and better.

I do not like black cars, but this one looks good in black.
as for people ponying up the money for one; personal financial decisions are just that - everyone has different budgets and assigns different values to vehicles regardless of what the manufacturer/dealer "suggests". |

I could grab a low mileage 2017 GT350 for that money and be listening to the Voodoo burble every shift. Different strokes. The RA was made for Subaru fanatics. Not worth it to me over a regular new STI but one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.

That is a lot of cash for a Subaru STI. I don't blame you for sleeping on it. Have you compared it to other $50K+ cars out there? You are in M2, RS3, Grand Sport, GT350, etc territory. Used M3/M4 too.

If he can get a GT350 for $56k, I'm flying to his dealership to get one myself.
