For an automatic RS, is the 18mm rear sway bar upgrade enough?

Coz I don't like (hate) oversteer (fish tail) .

It really depends on how good you are at driving I suppose. I'm using Whiteline's adjustable sway bar, and have run it at 20mm ever since I bought it at fall, and now during winter I still have it at 20. Even at 20mm I still get understeer, it all depends on the road conditions and the way you "take" the turn. An 18mm definitely helps with the understeer, though it will still be there.

I think I will go for the 18mm

coz I like to reduce understeer (although the 18mm will still have understeer, but it is way better than the stock 13mm that have too much understeer) and no need to increase the chance of oversteer

Mike Shields recommends the 18mm bar for autos, and the 20mm bar for sticks.. I have a stick, and bought the whiteline adjustable. That's what I'd recommend (apparently I'm not alone).. It's not that much more expensive than the non-adjustable.

18 should be just fine...
that's all i will EVER use.. bigger bars cause problems in the dirt... basically turn the car into a rear wheel drive car... and i dont want that on a 90 left into a 90 right!!

What SubieGal said! If its slick, I've found very little understeer with the stock bar. A 20mm bar would probably make my car a handful in dirt, snow, ice, etc.

I guess it all depends on what you drive in. All pavement in the sunshine belt, you shouldn't have any problems with a 20mm+ bar.

I don't know about you guys but I've had the adjustable Whiteline rear sway bar and only adjusted it once and left it alone eversince.

I have sold the car with the adjustable sway bar and have gotten a fixed bar for my new ride.

Those extra holes don't do anything unless you're going to adjust it periodically.

So is that the 18mm the most neutral setting for all season conditions? (eg, summer dry road and winter snow/ice road)

I'm afraid you will never get a straight answer since everyone here has different driving styles, capabilities, and conditions.

If you are afraid of wiping out, then play it safe and start on the 18mm bar. It is alot easier to pay an additional $90 for a 20mm bar later on than it is to pay a lot more money if you get into an accident.

Just FYI,
I have spun 180 degrees in the snow/icing conditions when I tried pushing my car really hard with my Whiteline bar set at 20mm and I consider myself a pretty good driver(just wasn't practicing good judgement at the time,hehe).

What about if you increase both the front and rear? MRT recommends 22mm for both. Cobb Tuning sells 20's for both ends.
