Huh ? None of those cars are slow and it is not really slower than any of those anyways. What are you talking about.

It is all relative, your S4 is slow to a lot of people that drive a Tesla. 0-60 times mean nothing to most people anyways. Some cars feel faster than others. The WRX is far from slow, it is very quick. I would gladly sacrifice a few tenths of a second from a 0-60 time conducted on a test course with a perfect launch than to be stuck with an automatic vanilla sedan. Where is the fun in that ? Do you tell people at parties how fast your car is 0-60 ? This is car is plenty quick and super fun. Trap speed in triple digits, 13 second run, who cares if the 0-60 increased because you have to shift to third.

I didn't mention my car. what other mfg has made their cars slower over the years? why is the new wrx slower than nearly all previous wrx's? instead of white knighting subaru, maybe you should be asking them why performance is going backwards instead of getting better. these cars launched better in the past while still having a manual transmission. a car can still be fun and have a decent 0-60 time. they don't have to be mutually exclusive.

It does have a great 0-60 time with much improved overall power delivery. How much more do you need on the street ? There is endless aftermarket if you want to chase numbers or perhaps a 50K DSG Golf R if 0-60 is your thing.

Saw my 1st 22 WRX (blue) in person few days ago at the local dealer, that's a LOT O black plastic on the front & back, definitely draws your attention from the wheel arches.

I saw my first '22 WRX the other day too...it had dark tints, which I think was the owner's approach to not be seen in it.

I saw a white one last week. Didn't look as bad in person but didn't look sporty or like a WRX. If I didn't know it was a WRX I would have thought it was a regular Impreza as the hood scoop is really the only thing that announces it's not a garden variety Subaru sedan. The black plastic just doesn't work as a styling cue on a vehicle with sporting intentions.

he cannot do this, he must justify his purchase to prove he did not miss the boat on the GOOD WRX's of the past.

We have two in the neighborhood, white one and a dark blue one. They certainly have a presence on the road. The wide body look is a bit more pronounced than in pics. Nice aggressive look without going overboard.

I've seen one on the road, missed one on the road (fiance driving and I was on my phone, she didn't like it), and two at a stealer. I've said it a bunch of times across the site but it doesn't look as bad in person. Even the horrible rear bumper (it is still not good).

My biggest gripe since the announcement has always been about the powertrain. We all knew it was gonna look like garbage for a year before we saw it, but I was perfectly willing to look past that. Now with the restrictions on tuning who cares about the FA24 ceiling? Until there's a workaround I guess.

I've seen two in the past week. Both orange. First impressions:
- Looks great from the sides and the front. More so than I thought.
- The hemorrhoidal rear bumper protrusion is as ugly as everyone says.
- The new orange is.. tame. Not flashy or fluorescent at all. More of a pastel, tame hue.

Default 2022 Subaru WRX Official Announcement *Merged*

I went to my local Subaru dealer to get parts and was finally able to look at a 2022 wrx in person. I like it, there are 3 issues that stop me from getting one.
1. Not a wagon.
2. Direct injection without port injection.
3. The tablet.
I would keep it mostly all stock, Id probably just want a cool wheel set.

I know there are a few 2022 owners on here. Since it seems cars101 is dead, can someone give us decent trunk measurements?

I've seen 3 2022's out on the road. The first one i really thought it was a Civic based on the taillights but realized it wasn't after a minute. I'm not a fan of the rear of the car but the brake lights looked cool.

Overall the car looks OK in person but doesn't seem sporty to me at all when compared to previous generations or other sporty cars currently available.

That's interesting, I wonder what happened to Joe. I bought our outback from him years ago.

I don't see any updates since 2021 and even then it was sparse. Maybe he got out of the car business since sales were so slow? Or he got bored updating a site about a currently boring company?
