Tesla needs to give the Model S a serious appearance refresh. With the exception of the bumper change, its looked the same for damn near 10 years.

it depends on who you ask ... I still think it looks great and with 400 miles of range and dynamic suspension is really appealing at that price point. I assume there will be some kind of small refresh next year when the Plaid Model S comes out.

For me, ever since the Model 3 was released the S/X interiors have looked dated.

Since I never owned a Model S and I only sat in one for a couple of hours it looks fine to me. If I could transfer FSD to other cars I would be tempted to get one. I wonder what is the real 0-60 of the long range model. I really think they will do some kind of exterior and interior update along with the 4680 cells next year.

https://electrek.co/2020/10/13/tesla...increase-2021/

The Model X range seems to be going up from 351 miles to 371 miles.

the car is supposed to be ready by early 2022 and it is 69k after the tax incentives. I wonder if they will be making any money on those.

Old style air vents
Integrated screen (granted the UI is better w/ M3 style update)
Older scroll wheels on steering wheel
2 screens

It's a lot busier than the clean lines of the M3/MY. It was also designed a long time ago. Time for an update.

I am with you that is a lot busier than the M3/MY and some people really want two screens or more than two like on the Taycan . Sure I guess the new vents could be consider old school compare to the M3/MY.

Yes, from the video the "hatch" isn't that much bigger than the M3. The MY has a lot of space, we've enjoyed it for moving furniture and big boxes.

and now the standard range plus model 3 has even more range than the Polestar

All the Model 3s got an update of range about 9% on the AWD version and they also got new wheels, a little update to the center console, automatic trunk and the Performance Model 3 has lower 0-60mph of 3.1 vs 3.2sec.

The Tesla Model 3 Long Range Dual Motors is getting a 30-mile range increase to 353 miles (568km ).

The other versions of the vehicle also got range increase:

Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus: now 263 miles up from 250 miles
Tesla Model 3 Performance: now 315 miles up from 299 miles

other automakers are now years behind Tesla in range and price and charging network. too bad Tesla can't get the build quality issues straightened out.

Seriously contemplating a used S or a new Model 3. I think I prefer the interior of the S more. I dont like how the 3 doesn't have a "gauge cluster" in the traditional spot, though I think I could get used to the single tablet

You'll get used to the centrally placed tablet, we have a model Y, but IMHO, as a car guy, that arrangement still sucks. And Tesla still won't offer a HUD option for those drivers who still want essential info in their direct eyeline.

Charging network is less important, imo. Simply due to the fact that there are several very large and publicly traded companies installing their systems, which are universal, throughout the country. Battery tech, yeah. Tesla is leaps and bounds ahead.

Go with the S, if you can. Iíd assume Pre owned prices should come down a little bit with pricing on the new models S being lowered. That said, if demand is high for used vehicles it could keep prices relatively stable. You could check swapalease and see if there are any good deals. Itís not uncommon to find a vehicle with maybe 6-12 months left on a lease with the lease buyout price being one hell of a sweet deal.

Unless you need a long executive saloon, you should get the M3. The single display is great and very natural. Looking over, is just as easy as looking down, to see your speed and range. It's not like you have a tach to worry about.

Also, Tesla just reduced the warranty terms for used Model S. Just get a new Model 3.

If I had a bigger budget I would have bought the S. It's more spacious and smoother riding, and would be better as a family car. The long range 3 is great, but I already have a Miata if I want something to handle. I'm not really interested in a Y for myself, and my wife doesn't want to have an EV if I have one, to keep the flexibility of a gas powered road trip car.
