why was the Tesla constantly driving in the left lane, even when not passing? Is that under driver control, or is the Tesla actively breaking the law in many states? If so, who pays for the ticket?

If you read the [x] page disclaimer when you start your car/ install FSD like you're supposed to, it's never Tesla's fault.

it used to drive on the right lane all the time and now it drives too much on the left lane.... You can never make everyone happy lol. There is a setting that you can change so it stays on the passing lane if you want to:

the system needs some kind of feedback to know that the driver is alert so you are supposed to have your hand on the steering wheel so it a applies a little bit pressure to trigger the sensor. If you look at the last of the five symbols on the top "steering wheel symbol" when its blue it will show you that autopilot was activated. During some Consumers Reports testing of FSD the idiots posted a video claiming that the software was not stopping at the stop signs but from the video you could clearly tell that they didn't even have autopilot activated .

I mean... many states have a law that state keep right except to pass. On 3 lane sections, it's generally acceptable to be in the middle lane as long as you're not obstructing the flow. But always being in the passing lane... sounds like an AI Prius...

Out of curiosity where does the Maps get the speed limit from? Marker 6:33 shows Speed Limit 50 MPH, the car is doing 53 MPH and the map shows 55 Max MPH.

The speed limit is 50 MPH, the car is going 53 MPH but the setting on the autopilot is limited to 5 MPH over the speed limit on city streets so 55 MPH max. The car reads the speed limit signs now they used to rely on Google maps for the speed limit. I found one time that the Google maps had the speed limit wrong in some highway.

It's comforting to know we can maintain mobility if we get old or lose sight etc. We may be able to return safe from nights drinking and partying But also understand when the day comes when autopilots dominate they may not let unpredictable human drivers to share same road.

I remember journalists or whoever being like "Elon, why are you working such extreme hours?" and he did say at some points (Summer 2018 I think) that Tesla would die if he didn't help figure out the production issues. At the time people were like wtf is the problem, you guys don't know what you're doing.

Turns out that was only partially true, as other EV's have had production ramp up and quality issues as well on launch.

Yeah the Polestar already had two recalls . As far Tesla being close to bankruptcy they probably were but I also think Tesla would have gotten the cash they needed easily.

Not sure what responses you got from the MY Owners Group, but I have one and Crosstrek PHEV.

I will say I like the exterior of the Rav4 Prime.

TFL is hit or miss with reviews and the Son has rarely been pro Tesla. His main issue is a lack of knobs. He seems to forget that the volume is controlled by the driver via a physical scroll wheel. Then he complains that the MY doesn't have paddle shifters...uh, there's only 1 forward gear.

My main complaint with the Rav4 Prime is that the Prime's AWD is dependent upon the battery pack. The rear axel is powered 100% by the battery pack. So after 42 miles you have a FWD car. Now, some may say, well even at 0 range the car can still creep in hybrid battery mode, yes, but tip in and it reverts to gas (does that in my Crosstrek PHEV and our previous 2015 XV Hybrid). No thanks.

I think paddle shifters can be helpful to vary the amount of regenerative braking.

My understanding is that there is no case that you'll lose rear drive in the Rav4 Prime. The gas engine will begin to charge the battery before reaching that point.

42 MILES PER HOUR not miles. The Prius eAWD has this setup.

The rear motor is primarily used to gain traction at low speeds. On a full throttle Hybrid mode start with the pavement slightly damp, there was essentially zero wheelspin and a very quick launch; but by the time we reached 40 mph the power distribution had shifted mostly or entirely to the front wheels.
