Default Just picked up my very first Subaru! WOO!

Hey all,

Just wanted to share my excitement with everyone! I just picked up a 1993 Subaru Impreza 4 door! Drives so nice. Only thing wrong with it is the driverside axle needs to be replaced (spitting grease on the "Y" pipe?) and what sounds like the rear left wheel bearing. Surprised how strong the 1.8 in it is with 200k miles! Anyway, I'm not new to the awd turbo world, as I run sacramento-dsmcom and know the s-squared guys here in town (cool group). I'm hoping to turn this 1.8 into the Ver. V body in the next few months, and then do the 2.0T swap (which I still need to research more). So I'll be spending some time in the noob section and the search button...but not that long LOL. I'll post pics of the temporary-bucket as soon as I take care of the DMV stuff. Hope to get to meet more of you

Manny

Hey thanks for the welcome. I just ordered a leather impreza boot cuz that ribbed-triangle is just not havin' it. Will that titanium sti shiftknob work on my car? Thinking about buying it off ebay. Hope this impreza is as relyable as my 1g dsm.

I don't think you need a new axle, just a new boot and some grease. If it's still spilling grease it's not dry yet, and you're axle is probably still ok.

Yes!

Unless it is chattering or otherwise making unfriendly sounds at you, just replace the boot.

Welcome!
