List the stock wheel size of each car you've owned....
In sequential order.
14" (86 Subaru XT Turbo) 14" (96 Hyundai Elantra) 15" (92 Prelude Si) 14" (86 Scirocco 16v) 16" (2001 RS) 18" (2004 R32) Kinda interesting. I wonder if we're at the logical conclusion for compact cars... |

13" (Toyota Corolla)
16" (Subaru Legacy) 15" (Porsche 944) 14" (Dodge Neon) 15" (Honda Civic) 17in wheels are about the best size for pure performance, but you need some actual power to move them, which is a problem for a lot of cars. |

Net result: Unless you are a mid level or better pro race driver, the lap times on the same car, changing only brakes, wheels, and tires (keeping wheel and tire width the same), the on-track lap time difference from a 17 to a 19" wheel would be virtually unnoticeable. The brakes may feel better and the driver may be more consistent with the larger brakes and wheels, but the overall performance will be very close. |

new wheels for the r32 aren't cheap are they ....you go down to 17s and you'll lose all the german sports car hertiage! might as well ban yourself from the VW forums.

It was a joke at an Install day about people not getting gold wheels with their subarus like in the 2.5rs's and STis. Basically a guy at the meet had an STI with silver wheels and was saying how people gave him a hard time because he didnt get the rally heritage gold wheels so I played along and said how I had the same problem and we joked about it for a while ( i have gold wheels though ). So i was playing on the jokes....they put 13s on the cars over there?! *layman also did not have gold wheels or rally hertiage on his subi so it was a good thing he sold it |
