Default EJ20 Swap?

Has anyone on here swaped a EJ20 out of the new US WRX into there RS? The motors should be easy to find with all the WRX accidents lately!

I havent done a swap yet but Im looking to do one. So if there is any info available on how much a WRX engine would cost that would be great.

Yes it's possible to do. You are better off using aftermarket engine management with it though.

actually Kevin Id like to disagree, if the engine was a US wrx as specified I would try to use the stock ecu, saves you time, money, and the hassle of wiring is takin care of... then you have a well-running 227hp, GC8 wrx thats lighter than the new car
Then later on if many mods are added etc... you can get a unichip, link etc...

Question

Why don't you just get the ECU as well? They should be just about as easy to find as the engines now.

Now that you mention it, I suppose the ideal would be to find a front clip of the US WRX. Any ideas on cost?

Out of curiosity how much would something like this cost. Just looking for a rough estimate if anyone knows off hand. Thanks!

Hard to tell on such a new car. On JDM Imprezas, they are around $8000 for an Sti.

I thought it's not an easy swap because of the intercooler on the new EJ20...its too close to the firewall for GC8's....

can anyone confirm?

It's not really a firewall issue, the intake manifold for a WRX gives more room for the intercooler, and it also allows boost to reach all four runners evenly.

It might fit because the throttle body/intake manifold are not the same. That is the reason why the IC won't fit in the RS. Alas, I cannot "confirm" it though.

doh: got beat to it
