still gets compliments.

Default Installed GT Spec rear strut tower bar pics.

I received and installed my GT Spec rear strut tower bar today. Here are pics of the install, which only took 10 minutes.

I want to thank Kyle @ JSC Speed for his help with my purchase and correction of a small issue.

That's pretty.

- how does it go through the strut covers?

- what bar did you have before? (it looks likes a whiteline cut out below it)

I cut the strut cover on the right side into three pieces, and slots in the one on the left, to see which cover would work better. The slotted one seems to hold together better, so I will buy new covers to make it neater looking.

The square cutouts were put there by the previous owner of the car, whom I think had a Whiteline rear strut bar installed. I did not like the way the Whiteline bar looks mounted, and like PARANOID56 stated, I also don't like the bars that hang down. They will interfere with items that fit between the strut towers in transit.

The endpates of the GT Spec bar are sturdy and are welded together quite nicely. I am very happy with the build of the bar. And, I got a good price for the bar.

PARANOID56, I sent you a PM about the price I paid.

I have the same bar in my wagon and love it. I keep a pair of 17mm wrenches in the back so I can take it out in just a minute or two.

I have that bar in my wagon, and I love it too. I just keep a wrench set in my car so I can pull itoff when I need the extra room, but the opportunity hasn't come up yet. Although if it did, I bet that whiteline with the quick release would come in handy. I've even thought about selling the gt-spec one and getting the whiteline one, but I don't want to cut into my car.

I think that reinforcing the chassis is a good first start.

I put in the GT-Spec rear and front bars. The front bar is a pain to install but I believe that it helped to reinforce the front. Most will say not to buy the front bar. Definitely put in a rear strut bar though - it eliminates most of the "roll". Price wise, somewhere around $140+.

I installed the TiC (Turn In Concepts) cowl braces. They are located behind the fenders. The fenders do not have to be removed, but it is recommend that you loosen the top fender bolt up along the a-pilar when the door is open because the front upper bolts may not come out otherwise.

The cowl braces effectively tie in the front clips to the rest of the unibody at the cowl/a-pillars. You can get two from Subaru - one is a stamped aluminum STI part for big $$$ or one off the 2007 STI limited, also somewhat big $$$. The TiC cowl braces IMO are the best bang for your buck - $$.

You can go through a vendor or E-Bay. I personally would go through a vendor b/c they usually offer some kind of limited warranty where as on E-Bay, I feel you're on your own. Always research who is selling what before you buy.

Let those who are familiar with E-Bay tell more.

You also have the choice of some other braces under the car - do a search or check out some vendor sites.

Start with the rear strut brace and the front cowl braces, then do more research and go from there. Do you have a daily driver that you do spirited driving with? Or are you going for more of the road rally aspect?

Hi Again..
Thanks for the words of advice I can see now what these do and effect. I have a 05 STi that i use mainly as a grocery getter, but i do get on it every now and then. My only up grades so far have been X M Radio and new set BFG KDW's which eliminated all that road noise those low rent Bridgestones were puttin out. LOL i did change my shifter knob but thats an entirely different story.. Ill keep up dates posted as i make a few up grades..

Thanks again.
