I'm paying $49/month for 150Mbps. Don't need all the extra crap they keep trying to get me to subscribe to.

It will be nice to have a second option (Fios) when we move next month.
Have you called them?

Channels not coming in one day might be an area issue, ongoing issues of channels not coming in you have a problem....

When I've had this problem, I've had to call to get it fixed.

They always claim that periodic "account maintenance" sometimes messes up the channels you are supposed to receive...yet strangely never seems to reflect those changes on the bill.

I moved my one cell line from ATT (no phone payment, 3GB data, insurance) to xfinity mobile, and added a new line. Both are by the GB for now. Bought a new iPhone 7 256gig for my kid, with insurance (32gb's were out of stock, and it ended up cheaper anyway. Score)

Switched my landline phone part of the triple play for home security, was still in contract, but sales dude was cool with swapping one service with another.

Total monthly difference: 10 bucks, after figuring in 3GB data use for each line.

No contract for the xfinity mobile, and I wasn't on contract for ATT, so figured I'd give it a try. The numbers if I had added the line and phone to the ATT account were about 80 bucks higher.

New triple play package also comes with a better channel lineup and automatic internet upgrade.

Will report back later, maybe I get screwed, maybe not. Reviews of the xfinity mobile seem to be fine, it's basically verizon.

Interesting. I have considered this but we do visit some rural areas and I figured the "gotcha" would be the coverage map.

Unless you have access to Google fiber the alternatives are even worse. CenturyLink is the other provider I'm aware of here and their speeds are significantly slower, they send out aggressive door to door salesman, and I'm sure their customer service sucks too since their prices are so low they surely can't afford anything else.

Comcast called me up and offered me a new subscriber rate, so now I have 150 down instead of 75 for $10 less a month. I'm OK with this.

They're all horrible, having dealt with CenturyLink in another state.

Google Fiber is is a dream come true, as lame as that sounds.

The only time I've had to talk to Google customer service it was about my phone breaking and it was probably the worst experience I have had with a company in my life. The amount of lies told in a 10 minute phone call was actually impressive. Transferring to the supervisor just got me someone who was more experienced at lying to get rid of people. When the transcript of the call and decision on the case they promised me in 48 hours never came I couldn't even bring myself to call back.

I had to use their customer service via online chat and it was outstanding.

Calling chat support is like playing Russian roulette except if you lose instead of a quick death you have to suffer indefinitely.

Found out why I had errors on those channels: they were channels that I used to receive but they were removing them from the bundle I have. Now it just says they are no longer available with my subscription.

A thread just popped up in my local FB group about how suddenly a bunch of people have gotten notices from Comcast about reaching their monthly data cap, myself included. I checked my usage and somehow it has more than doubled from last month(810GB vs 1,600GB) despite no changes in behavior. Coincidentally, they just finished a neighborhood fiber upgrade and just so happen to offering unlimited for an additional $50 a month. I wouldn't put it past these scumbags to pull some shady **** like this.

Speaking of shady **** from Comcast, thanks for the reminder to post to this thread.

Recently called to see if we could get them to lower our bill. The usual offers to cut services, but then they suggested I get their home security system. Would save us about $35/month, and no charge for their basic equipment (3 door sensors, motion sensor, tablet to control the system, and a keypad for the front door). Sounded great. Got the appointment set up, the guy came by, and everything went smoothly.

First bill after the install, and I see a one-time charge of $99. Called to ask WTF, and the customer service rep told me it was for the install. I said that neither the original customer service rep nor the tech told me about the charge. Rep gave me the over-the-phone shoulder shrug, said "sorry, that's our policy", then asked if I needed anything else.

Not a huge deal, since we ultimately come out ahead with the monthly savings on adding the home security package, but still disappointed with the lack of transparency. And despite what others in this thread have experienced, my overall satisfaction with Comcast, their services, and customer service has been pretty good. This was my first with them in a long time.

I never had a bad experience with the services per say. Cable Internet always worked, X1 box was pretty solid and just worked, etc.

Now I'm with Spectrum(Charter) and good lord what I would give to be able to be molested by Comcast again. Using Spectrum cable boxes after X1 is like going back to before smart phones. Menu is slow as ****, DVR menu often won't even come up. Causing us to "refresh" the receiver or even power cycle the damn thing. If you record 2 shows at once you HAVE to watch 1 of them or something in your DVR.

The only real problem I had with Comcast was the once a year call to haggle pricing. But service and hardware seemed to be top notch compared to the pile of dung Spectrum gives you.

Spectrum GUI for everything is so terrible even my 68 year old mother makes fun of it. There has to be a way to get a 3rd tuner in one box so you can record 2 things and watch something else.

I'm a new Comcast infinity customer, internet only. When I called to sign up I let the sales guy go through all his crap and tell me what plan is best for me based on my answers to his questions, he recommended some TV/internet plan for $169/mo for one year After getting some concessions and asking about using my own hardware I ended up with 150/25 plan for $38/mo. As the conversation progressed the sales person's will slowly faded and by the end he was basically mumbling and just hung up after we finished without the typical "is there anything else I can do for you... Thanks for calling Comcast, have a good day". I feel slightly bad for that poor bastard.

Has anyone had experience negotiating comcast cable internet pricing when fiber is technically an option in your area? I'm hoping for some kind of price match even if the speeds won't get equal.

The fiber is cheaper and faster?

Why not just get fiber?

This was a moderately interesting article that concludes exactly what one could have guessed.

HoA doesn't like the look of cables coming from the pole to the building, and I rent.

Both places I've had fiber installed it was buried. Another plus with fiber is that you can use your own router and avoid rental fees for equipment if you subscribe to internet only.

I just mentioned I was switching to Verizon and they gave me one of the new subscriber deals immediately. The bluff worked.
I was moved to a 2 yr contract, but its fine by me. 2 years of me not worrying about prices going up, or having to call every 6 months.

After switching to gig.. Saw some interesting results over wireless:

802.11ac -> Wifi Extender bridging on LAN port -> Switch -> Wired

802.11ac -> USB3 wifi adapter @ 1.3Gbps was closer to 250. Thinking I need some better MU-MIMO action.
