Default Visiting Oregon, other than Lake Crater and PDXtuning, any other cool place to see?

That's right!

My girlfirend and i will be around Portland, Oregon for my girlfriend's friend graduation + end of summer vacation.

You guys have any suggestion on other cool places to visit?? I know the Ariel Atom maker (Brammo Motorsports) is in King City.

Thanks!

If you're into skateboarding there are a ton of cool parks in small towns along the coast, and a few inland as well.

Hate to say it, but the I-5 corridor is an incredibly UNPRETTY road...you really only see Oregon properly by going across it west to east...Of course, California is much the same way.

Having said that, the Rogue River Jet Boats in Grants Pass could be scenic, fun, and easym and it's just off I-5. If you want to go on a hike, Silver Falls State Park is nice, it's east of Salem about 45mins I think...

+1 on the Columbia Gorge trip...little effort, nice scenery, beautiful drive.

For a fun place to stay and/or drink and hang out in Portland...try McMenamins Edgefield. It's close to the gorge (east of the airport), and has a little 17-hole short course and is a converted poor farm...funky and cool. Has LOTS of little bars on site, live music, gardens, movie theatre, pool hall...the list just goes on and on.

The Acropolis Steakhouse. Well, they serve steak there among other things.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

I'll try to check them out, especially the drinking place.

In Portland, check out the Japanese gardens, it's a nice relaxing place to take the ladyfriend. The Horsebrass is a pretty well know pub with tons of tasty beers, and the Portland City Grill is pretty sweet too (it's on the 30th floor downtown). If you have specific types of things you might enjoy, we could probably be more helpful...
