Thin Wall Impact Sockets for High End Wheels
Koken Thin Wall Impact Sockets for High End Wheels! Protect that investment!
As you can see above, Koken sockets have the identical outer diameter of your lug nuts. (17mm socket on a Hasegawa lug nut shown) They will not interfere with the paint or finish surrounding lug nuts on your wheels! These Koken socket set was engineered for use with impact guns in mind, however many of our customers use them with standard 1/2" drive breaker bars and appreciate the thin walled wheel protection, strength and color coding. $69.00 Shipped! I would just like be clear that your statement is an apples-to-apples comparison about how a socket's nylon coating can make a socket "better" than a thin walled socket. When we say "Thin walled" this pertains to a socket's ability to fit inside the smaller lug nut opening commonly found on aftermarket wheels. Take your common off the shelf impact socket that is not thin walled, and you will never be able to fit the socket over the lug nuts because they are not thin enough to fit within the socket holes. This has nothing to do with any type of coating. Through our customer experiences and even our own findings, if an impact socket manufacturer advertises a nylon coating, its intent is to protect the wheel's finish however, after short usage our customers have experienced this coating to crumble under the force of this equipment. We find this coating does not really play a factor in protecting a wheels finish, however, it comes down to whether they are thin enough to avoid contact with the inside of the wheel to avoiding damage; all while still having the strength to hold up to impact equipment. The Koken sockets do. As you can see in the pictures, the Koken sockets have a different design, a unique tapered center section that can withstand much higher abuse while at the same time be thin walled and fit within your aftermarket wheels. The old traditional style thin walled sockets do not taper at all, and are the same diameter the entire length of the socket which crack and split down from one end to the other. I hope this helps. jakeafi,
I am not certain what direction you're going with your posts if your intent is not to "thread jack" as you indicated a few posts up. In response to your statement about a lifetime warranty I should say that after having experience with the nylon coated sockets you mentioned, I had poor results. We are offering what we know are extremely well made thin wall impact sockets. Many years ago, I bought tools based on their lifetime warranty alone, and have learned my lesson. Like most people who wrench, I have had a tool fail on me in the middle of a job with no backup and after business hours which means no way of exchanging a tool under warranty at that moment. Most of us do not have tools provided by their company, who also has replacements on hand, or has tool truck who makes regular visits. In my opinion, a lifetime warranty should not determine a good tool. We are more efficient and economical in making our purchasing decisions based on smart engineering and smart design. We offer what we have found to be superior in quality to others on the market. jakeafi, I appreciate your input regarding our products and welcome your PMs if you have any future concerns.
