Few questions about the Perrin Turbo Inlet and about the Samco MAF arm????
Will the perrin turbo inlet fit with the samco MAF arm? Also will the Samco MAF arm fit with the TXS short ram intake. Cuz i wanna get the Samco MAF arm with the perrin turbo inlet pipe and i have the TXS short Ram inatke, and wanted to know if that would work? Also how good is the perrin turbo inlet compared to the samco? I would Appreciate any help or comments that you can give me. thanks, eric

I can only speculate, and I think you're not getting responses because not many people have the Samco MAF hose.
Yes. Yes. Perrin looks like a better piece to me, but there is very likely nobody that can compare the two performance-wise. |

For those of you that dont know what the MAF hose is it just that samco arm that goes from the turbo inlet to the intake to smooth out the air flow.. Anyone who has a perrin turbo inlet also let me know how you like it. thanks, eric

hey, I just installed the samco maf pipe and I had to trim at least five inches off. I was very unhappy with this peice. The samco turbo inlet pipe was ok, but you had to modify the peice a little to get one of the sensors on, so hopefully your perrin inlet pipe is much better. So you might want to check into maybe the perrin maf kit if they make one. Thats my 2 cents good luck

It just replaces the accordian piece in the center.

WHy not just go with the perrin short ram and perrin inlet? The perrin short ram connects right to the inlet replacing the accordian piece you speak of. I just instlalled the perrin inlet two weeks ago and the install wasnt too bad..

I have the Samco MAF.....
I also purchased a Samco MAF hose. I was a little disapointed with the piece. I also had to cut about 5 inches off of the hose in order to get it to fit between the airbbox and the stock inlet pipe. The bends in the MAF hose are also just a bit off so it took some definite "finagling" to get it in and also to make sure that there were no leaks in the airbox due to the MAF pulling it up.
Once I got it is it looks pretty good, but it definitly could have been made better. My only guess is that it was meant to go with the Samco inlet pipe. I also had some issues with my Samco intercooler hoses. So far their batting average is piss poor with me. -Jason |

I also....
I also took the fender resonator out and I have a K&N high flow air filter.
The only difference that I noticed is that before with out the Samco MAF hose the "sucking" sound that was there when I got on the gas has now quieted down. AS far as any performance gains, I don't think there are any. It is quite a bit larger in diameter and a lot smoother. My EGT's may have gone up a tad, but my Autometer EGT guage has been on the fritz for about 6 months so I can't be sure. Here is a picture of my setup... -J |

I am currently running with the metal Zero/Sport MAF hose and the Perrin Inlet Hose. In order to get the Zero/Sport MAF hose to fit between the Perrin inlet hose and the airbox, I had to shave off about a 1/4" off the lip on the factory airbox. The combo of the the two now looks really good.

Instead of using two pieces (inlet and elbow) why not get one?
AVO Silicon Intake Tract - WRX $345.00 It spans from the turbo to the airbox unlike others that stop at the accordian section. It eliminates both the plastic intake pipe and the silicon accordian section with an ultra smooth hose made of thick multi-layer silicon with a wire skeleton. It is pricey, but isn't your WRX worth it? I plan to get one before the year is out. They are availble from Quantum Racing and I think Vivid sells them too. |

The AVO does have a wire skeleton. That should make it plenty rigid enough.

This may not be the right thread, but I'm curious. I was looking at my turbo inlet pipe last night and it is smooth inside. What gains can be had when the design already looks decent? Increased cross-sectional area? More gradual tapers? I'm not sure what people are hoping to accomplish except to blow an extra $200-$300 on a pretty silicone piece.

It is one of the safe mods. You probably only gain a couple of HP, but everything adds up. I think changing the accordian elbow would help as much if not more than the rest of the inlet.
I have improved my intake alot in small steps. The AVO part is the last one. Currently it is: velocity stack in my fender conected to the stock airbox with an itg filter. Then the AVO one piece inlet hose(soon), stock turbo, Samco intercooler hoses and finally to a ported, polished and knife edged throttle body. That should give me better flow of air to the engine. |
