Cruise Control Issues
Hey everyone - having an issue with my cruise control. Sometimes when I try to engage the CC it takes a few tries. once it engages it seems to only stay on for a few seconds and then cuts out.
Do you think I should replace the unit? Does the CC in a WRX need a vaccum line running to it? Right now I just have the line to the throttle body but heard that in the older RS there is also a vaccum line. Thanks!

IF so, how do I create more tension?

Are you getting any CEL's? Depending on the CEL it can automatically disengage your cruise control. I would check on that first before making any cable adjustments.

I do not have any CELs thankfully. I have had this issue for a few years but kind of ignored it. I have tried to run the CC in times where I did and did not have a CEL with the same end result.

Check by the throttle body for the cruise control cable. There are some adjustment nuts to increase or decrease the tension on the cable. I would check with the service manual for the correct procedure because it can make things worse...
There is also a little black box near the passenger side strut tower. That should be the tensioner for the cruise control cable--you can trace the cable back from the throttle body to find it. I believe it is motorized, but not positive. |
