Lexus has revealed a new version of its LF-A supercar concept. The concept was originally shown at the 2005 Detroit auto show, and has since been updated with a new exterior and interior. This latest iteration is expected to be very close to the production car, expected to arrive in late 2008 as a 2009 model.

The running gear of the LF-A is just as it was with the original, powered by a high-revving 500-plus horsepower V10 engine. Its front mid-engine placement, along with a rear-mounted transaxle and rear-mounted radiators, allows for ideal weight distribution, according to the company. The horsepower, improved aerodynamics, and revised styling makes a top speed of 200 mph possible.

"The first LF-A was a pure concept, but one that we went so far as to conduct engineering analysis on," said Bob Carter, Lexus Division group vice president and general manager. "This latest concept is much closer to a vehicle that we would bring to market, and one in which we will be gauging consumer interest." Gallery after the jump…

Those rear air scoops just sitting against the glass of the rear windows looks wrong... other than that, it's a gorgeous car.

OK, that's pretty ugly.

.. typical Japanese design... so similiar to that other Toyota concept and the Accord coupe concept and like every other "sportscar" concept from a Japanese maker.

That and the missing clutch pedal. I hope it has a manual. Not that I can afford it anyway.

People who spend over $100k on a sports car don't want to shift anymore.

Doubt that? Look at Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bugatti, etc. etc.

Automagic Manuals are the way of the future, and they aren't going away.

This LF-A is tremedously better than the previous version. Much more effort in sculpting the details of the car. I like it now! Love the interior too.

That car is hot, not quite a Japanese Aston Martin, but heading in that direction. The 9 grand redline is intriguing.

I guess the WRX is American then?!
I am sorry, but that is one hideous car.
Good design is good design, be it American, Japanese or European. I loved the old Supra, I love a few japanese cars now, but this car is jsut awful. I am sure it will be very well-made and be quite fast, but nice looking it is not.
This car, the GT-R and a few others are all from the same Japanese play-book of "what would an overly-futuristic sportscar look like".

(and I know I am in the minority here )

Those pods on the sides of the steering wheel make me think of those on the subaru XT.

The upper scoop looks so out of place. Other then that, I am digging the looks. Interior looks perhaps a little too sedate for me. No gauges, looks too much like a normal lexus.
