Remove spark plugs, remove the ignition fuse inside the car, connect some jumper cables to the battery or something and just crank it till you see oil pressure.

^ yup. If you are not 10000% sure which one is the IGN fuse, just pull the plugs on the coil packs and the injectors. Only takes a couple minutes.

Or remove the connector for the fuel pump relay.

A old trick I use to do is take a hand pump fill it with oil remove oil filter, stick the rubber hose in to oil thread fitting and start pumping the oil to the block to remove any air pockets.
when you start it you should have immediate oil pressure .

A little messy but it works , just keep a pan ready .

We prelube the motor with a pressurized oil supply through the oil pressure sender port till our aftermarket oil pressure gauge said 40 psi then turned the motor through a few cycles and put the stock sender back on and started it.

You know, on newer drive by wire cars, you can just hold the accelerator to the floor while cranking. AT 100% TPS, the car will not fire the injectors. No need to do anything else.

Ok, so basically just pull the plugs off the coilpacks (or the IGN fuse) along with the fuel pump relay? Is there anything else I should be looking out for? I plan on starting my new hybrid tomorrow..

Ideally like said you want to remove the spark plugs so it doesn't build any compression on the rod bearings until oil pressure is made.

Fuel pump fuse is not enough. Disconnect injectors (or engine harness, but some engines won't crank with harness disconnected). You don't want any residual gas wash the cylinder walls while you are priming the engine. Very important.

I like charlie's idea that is pretty damn nifty.
Probably have to drain a bit of oil out once you are done firing it the first time but still....that's a great idea...
What kind of pump charlie? hand pump of some kind?

I like Jeff's idea of just holding the pedal to the floor and cranking the engine over. How much easier can you get?

I agree that Jeff's idea is the simplest but you are still rotating the engine with no oil barrier anywhere other than your assembly lube which should be fine in most cases, but Charlie's method ensures there is oil everywhere before you crank it the first time.
Both great ideas really.

This is what I did today:

Pulled off the fuel pump cover and just un-plugged the harness directly.
Had no coil packs or spark plugs in.
Pulled the crank sensor harness off.

10 second intervals of cranking until the oil light went off.

When I fired her up, she started on the first try. It was actually scary how easily it started.
