I'd never own a Z, but it does look better if they indeed add the subtle fender flares like in the orange pic

That's how the front end needs to look from the factory. Gets rid of the awkward gaping maw and still works with the retro cues of the car. The wheels also give off a RS Watanabe vibe as well. Hands down better looking than the Supra.

Agree with all of that. The Supra is a cool car and looks better in person, but the exterior design is overwrought and needlessly busy. I'm not usually a fan of orange cars, but the Fairlady Z Proto looks fantastic. My dad had an orange 260z when I was a kid & the family resemblance between that car and the new Z is obvious. I'm looking forward to driving one.

Default 2023 Nissan Z Sales Start June 2022..

Quote:

The 2023 Nissan Z Has Arrived. Here's Everything You Need to Know
It's been a long, long, loooooooong time coming, but the replacement for the aged Nissan 370Z has, at long last, been revealed ahead of its spring 2022 debut.

The Nissan 400Z is really just the Nissan Z

First off, the name. The car we thought would be called the 2022 Nissan 400Z is, in fact, known as the 2023 Nissan Z — a more open-ended name for a new generation of the sports car.

Still, the 400Z name would have been fairly appropriate, as this new Nissan whips up a cool 400 horsepower from its twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 — the same engine found in the Infiniti Q50 Red Sport. Much like the Infiniti, it also spits out 350 lb-ft of torque, stretching across a wide plateau from 1,600 to 5,600 rpm.

When will you be able to buy a new Nissan Z?

A user on the New Nissan Z forum posted what purports to be the Nissan Z launch timeline leaked from a Nissan dealership. If that document is accurate, Nissan will begin Z production in March 2022. First media drives will happen in April, and Nissan will begin sales in June 2022.
Yes, the new Z still offers a stick shift

Unlike the Infiniti, however, which only offers a nine-speed automatic gearbox, buyers of the 2023 Z will be faced with a choice of transmission: that nine-speed slushbox (with paddle shifters, of course) or a six-speed manual gearbox with a high-performance clutch. Either way, however, you'll be able to execute sweet hole shots on command, as both gearboxes offer launch control functionality.

The new Z comes in two additional flavors beyond manual or automatic: Sport and Performance. (Yes, those sound pretty similar.) Sport is the base model, packing 18-inch wheels and 2-piston front / single-piston rear brakes; Performance cars boast 19-inch wheels with more performance-oriented tires, larger brake disks and floating four-piston front / two-piston rear calipers. Performance cars also boast a dual exhaust.

The 2023 Nissan Z's interior is a big leap forward

Every 2023 Nissan Z represents a massive leap up from its predecessor inside, however. While the 2020 370Z's guts still looked straight out of the early Obama years, the all-new car boasts tech that feels very much of the modern era — though without ditching the style of the old version entirely. A 12.3-inch digital instrument panel comes standard, although analog gauge pods for boost, turbo speed and voltage still lie alongside.

The seats — cloth in the Sport, heated leather in the Performance — were inspired by those of the GT-R. Sport models score an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a six-speaker stereo, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; Performance versions get a 9.0-inch screen with an eight-speaker Bose stereo, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Nissan added a ton of Z-car design details

Nissan designers had a 50-year heritage to work with designing the new Nissan Z, and they made the most of it by incorporating elements from several of the brand's iconic cars. Nearly every part of the car contains some reference to Z-car design whether it's the "Z bulge" on the hood, the headlights that evoke the 1970s-era 240ZG or the retro Z logo located in the same place as it was in the original S30 Z.

How much will the new Nissan Z cost?

Well, that remains to be seen. As of press time, Nissan hadn't announced pricing for the new car. (The company's COO mentioned in an interview that he expected it to start around $40,000, but there's a lot of wiggle room there.) Still, with the 2023 Z not expected to reach showrooms until spring of 2022, Nissan has plenty of time to sort that out...and hopefully, it'll actually start near the outgoing model's $30,090 base price.

That writer is a joke. Making a big deal of 6MT, sign of the times I guess, and no mention of the performance having a LSD.

Yep this Author Really made a big deal about the manual transmission.

Yeah this would be more newsworthy if the Supra wasn't getting a manual transmission but since it is the Z doesn't hold that over it. Also it's highly unlikely the Nissan automatic transmission will be nearly as good as the ZF8 so price is really the only advantage the Z car may hold.

Why would you assume that? It's the JATCO built 9G found in Mercedes and Aston. Decent enough transmission for this price point. We'll see how much the Z will undercut the Supra in price. Nissan uses ZF as a supplier for their FWD models, so paying extra for the longitudinal setup likely didn't make any sense.

Let's be honest, the better car is going to be the one built between the collaborative effort of BMW & Toyota, not the revised 370Z.

Sounds decent and appears to shift reasonably quickly. Still not a fan of teh gaping front maw and I fully expect this to still have the typical Nissan programmed overly intrusive traction control system.

Gotta give them a bit of credit for the screen integration compared to the tombstone placement of most MFGs these days.

The front end is the biggest issue with design. Well that and the center stack is rather odd.

Sounds and looks fast however. And all that matters at the end of the day is how it performs.

I like the two toned interior. But it's looking like this car will not come out until 2023.

For all the heat the "iPad"-style infotainment systems get, it's my preference functionally, as you can see more of the road in your peripheral vision that way.

Dealers are drooling. They will have 45k up to 65K before markups

Nismo Launches First Upgrade For 2023 Nissan Z
By: Jacob Oliva
Nissan Motorsports & Customize Co., Ltd. has announced the first customization that you can do on the new Z car. The first official upgrade will be from Nismo and it will come in the form of a sports muffler.

The Nismo sports muffler for the 2023 Nissan Z (dubbed Fairlady Z in Japan) is made from stainless steel. It's a center pipe and rear muffler set, with the exhaust finishers adorned with the Nismo logo and sporty rivets. According to Nismo, the set plays "a light and comfortable exhaust note from normal driving to high-speed driving."

Nissan Z Nismo Sports Muffler

As an official upgrade, the Nismo sports muffler comes with a replacement muffler pre-certification system. It will, however, lower the minimum ground clearance by 5mm with a set of mounting accessories.
The Nismo sports muffler is compatible with all 2023 Nissan Z cars, priced at 308,000 yen (with tax) or around $2,410 at the current exchange rates. Ordering and shipments will commence in fall 2022, which will be around September.

The US will likely get the said sports muffler upgrade, although customers should know that production and consequently, the launch of the car has been delayed due to the ongoing parts shortage. It was announced in conjunction with the automaker's press release for pricing in Japan, and confirmed to Motor1.com by a Nissan spokesperson.

That said, expect the 2023 Nissan Z on US shores sometime in summer this year, which should be around June. The official US pricing hasn't been disclosed as of this writing, though it's believed that it will start around the $40,000 mark.
As for the breakdown of the trim levels and what to expect, a leaked order guide from early this year should give you a good look.

if it were Titanium I could see it, but the aftermarket is going to offer something as good or better for a fraction of the cost... watch Nissan lock it into certain packages/trims to pad the MSRP

I know that material costs have gone up but that's a lot for a stainless steel exhaust.

this is about on par with other OEM optioned exhausts... golf R akrapovic exhaust was like 2600ish. Granted, this is by Nismo, not akrapovic.
