SOA is having trouble getting the cars out of Japan. They dont own any ships, they put thier cars on other peoples ships when they arent full. There are a lot of 09 Foresters sitting in japan waiting for a ride. The problem is there arent as many ships comming over here right now. Atleast thats how it was explained to me when I asked about all of the sold order cars Im waiting on.
Also your dealer can look it up on Subarunet. The "pipeline" report will tell you what stage of the process your cars in. The arrival dates are not as accurate as they used to be though. That whole ship thing is messing it up. Any one have a cargo ship Subaru can rent for a few weeks?

I was able to get a faxed copy of the Sold Order Request that was placed on 26 April. On it they've written a number which I was told was the VIN, but when I saw it seemed to be too short to be a VIN (unless its only a partial). I'm thinking this may be the VON. The number is 9H708489.
I just called 1 800 SUBARU3 but wasn't able to talk to a human or select an option that seemed to go in the right direction (they offered 3 options, roadside assistance, find the nearest dealer, and request a brochure). I doubt that my dealership didn't order this vehicle, as they've had some CRP FXT's on their lot since I placed my order, just not with the options I ordered, and they've never called and said, "will this one work?" I just keep being told, "when we hear something you'll be the first to know." I just would like to know where it is. |

The oil pickup one worries me personally much. We would all very much appreciate some more info on that subject and hope for some action from SOA sooner than later. |

Dear SOA Blog,
Buying my smoking, knocking, oil burning STI was the greatest decision of my life. It finally gave me a reason to buy a Corvette. Thank you Disappointed customer on his third, and last, Subaru. |

Thanks scooby.
The salesman called me today to let me know he'd been told the car would be at their dealership this coming week. Hopefully that happens. |

Thats cool. Atleast in the country. Do your cars over there get put on trains then trucks or just trucks? Our cars ride both and have been a few days to a week late after the final date is posted on the net. Until this year SOA has been super good about this. This year has been tough with shipping. Stupid Diesel fuel prices.

So.... that's how fuji justifies such a crap oil pickup design. You might find complaints about a car, but I don't think you'll find nearly as many 'defective part broke, grenaded motor, dealer bent me over, no TSB' stories. |

Possibly because so many people come with grenaded engines, and try to claim that they weren't doing anything dumb and/or stupid? SOA and FHI are not a charity, they are a business. It can take time for issues to be identified and resolved, if there is one. Personally this is the first I've heard of this issue, so it's not like it's happening to a large percentage of the cars out there. Be patient. |

^^Its true that Subaru is among the most reliable brands (Don't even get me started on my wife's Benz ). But the way some dealers and even sometimes SOA deal with problems leaves a lot to be desired. Sometimes people get things fixed relatively easily at no charge; sometimes its a huge hassle. Sometimes dealers even charge people to fix things that SOA has already decided to cover for free. When its something serious like an failed oil pickup line or fuel leaking in the engine bay, there should a clearcut and transparent process for dealing with it.

For the record, an engine will run for quite awhile with little to no oil pressure, granted it will make a lot of noise and gradually lose power until it shuts down, but it will not create the catastrophic event you are describing. But then again, that might be a bit too much for you to comprehend. |

Then why are you here and not at LGT.com? Chill out, bunky.
SOABlog, please do not take unclemat as a representative slice of NASIOC and/or SOA customers. |

^^True, unclemat is a little obnoxious, but he also has somewhat of a point. SOA does not always deal well with problems in their cars.
12345 My '84 subie developed a leak and lost all of its oil on the highway once (it had an oil pressure gauge that suddenly dropped to zero). I got it to a garage, got it fixed and filled up, and it ran fine with seemingly no damage. (I wouldn't do this today; much safer to pull over right away and get the car towed.) |

Whatever. Sudden catastrophic engine loss (seizure) at speed is not something average driver is prepared for. I hope we all agree that SOA should do something about the oil pickup failures, which based on the data here and in other forums is not some freak case or two. |

SOA Blog,
Why did we receive our 09 Legacy, Outback and Tribeca brochures already? We just started to get the Legacy and Outback last week and have not gotten the Tribecas just yet so why do we have brochures so soon? I thought it was corporate policy to wait until 3 months after the release to ship out brochures Good job keep it up. |
