Our jetta has burned oil since we got it, approx 1qt per 3k miles, the motor is strong and healthy after 130k. My friend has a bmw that goes through a quart every 2k, no major problems either. There are just way too many factors to really answer such a question.

Was the car parked on level ground when you checked the oil level? It doesn't require much slope to radically alter your reading (either making it appear too high or too low, depending on the direction of the slope).
Did you give the oil at least 10 minutes after turning the engine off before checking the level? |

I had an offer I couldnt refuse and no longer have my lamented Impreza.
[IMG][/IMG] I didnt think I'd like it- BUT I LOVE THIS CAR! Best part is its never even been on BILL BRYAN'S LOT!!! MMMMM feels so much better. Disclaimer- if it does end up burning some oil, I WON'T BE SURPRISED OR UPSET. I am going to enjoy the *//* out of this car. It feels so much better in every way. Thanks to MASTRO SUBARU for being excellent folks to deal with. No more bottoming out on crappy roads! |

Now I'm looking forward to doing some tasteful mods. Mudflaps, seatback protectors, and some nicer speakers are on the short list.

Is the popular 19mm STI rear sway bar an appropriate mod for the Crosstrek? Is it compatible? What RSB does the Crosstrek come with?

Yeah, I just am finishing a three year long rennovation/remodel on my home, and having enough headaches with plumbing, floors, more plumbing...
I couldnt let myself be stressed about that car anymore. I am actually quite amazed at the difference in build quality between the old and new. I would have NEVER guessed I'd be buying an XV, or any Subaru. But I LOVE Mastro Subaru of Sanford, and after looking around at lots of other cars, I decided that I like the Sube's awd and fuel economy enough to buy a GOOD ONE FROM A GREAT DEALER. I probably is shockimg to some who have followed along. But I wanted a nice new subaru- Bill Bryan is where that all went wrong. |

Chuck, I dont understand. You trash Subaru and the engineering of the engine that was in your old car but you turn around and buy another with the exact same engine?

Cool.
Please explain the difference in build quality that you see when comparing the XV with the 2012 Impreza. I thought they were largely the same car, except for the suspension and some trim pieces.... |
