Subaru Stars Remote start

I got my wife’s 2014 Outback and she hasn’t used the remote start for 3 years. Now I drive the car I would like to use it but it doesn’t work. It’s a dealer installed remote start. When you push the start button the horn beeps once then the lights flash once and then the horn beeps 3 times but it doesn’t start. I would appreciate any help thanks.

P.S. my wife drives the new 2018 WRX and I replaced my 2002 outback with the 2014 outback

I mistakingly bought an Avital remote start / keyless setup, thinking I could interface it with the oem alarm in my 2007 2.5i, but apparently it's not possible. The car doesn't have immobilizer, which is great and I have it installed and working fine, just sucks having to use the oem remote to disarm.

The Avital will lock/unlock but of course if I locked it with the remote or the door switch (usually), the alarm will activate if unlocked with the avital remote.

I've seen random pics of disarm wires for the 08+ but not for the 06-07. The oem alarm module has a lot of wires, seems like there would be a way to trick it into working with the Avital.

Has anyone dissected the oem alarm module to modify or tap into its circuitry? Otherwise, has an aftermarket adapter been made lately for a clean integration? I don't want something with crappy connectors and pins, or something that has to have software programmed to it from the web if possible. My friend has a neato adapter that "integrates" his pioneer dvd / nav in his dodge, but it isn't worth the hassle for what it provides. I'd like something more hardwired to integrate the aftermarket remote start if possible.

Already ordered an oem all in one key fob for now, so at least I won't need a key and two remotes.

Thanks for any help

Does anyone know it an aftermarket remote start system can turn on the defrosters in the 2015+ wrx's?

Talking to my installer and he says that he's nor sure it's possible as the remote start units would have to switch it on in software.

Edit: My installer tried to do this and said that the compustar system did not have access to the defroster controls unlike the OEM remote starter that Subaru won't allow to be used in an MT.

Default 556uw key bypass module wiring

I've completed my remote start installation (Avital 4103LX) and im having trouble finding any/all information on how to install the Universal Key Bypass Module 556uw. Instructions say hang the antenna ring around the ignition, this doesnt work. Alternate installation instructions say to wire it in to the factory immobilizer, but i cant find any information about how to do that for my vehicle.

For the module, i've wired in the 12V constant and a ground. That's it.

I have a 2012 Impreza.

Anyone here able to provide some insight? Wiring diagram?

I recently got a compustar system installed in both my 19 WRX 6MT and in my wife's 12 Outback (CVT). So many options for my installation that it's nuts. I got the FM 2-way remote, and had my installer turn off automatic reservation mode, as that was causing me nothing but issues when carting around my wife and daughter. Any door opening and closing when stopped with the handbrake on would cause it to try and takeover the vehicle, and I could never simply turn off the vehicle by pressing engine start/stop. It confused my wife to no end on the rare occasion that she drives my car anymore. So, I just keep the spare 1-way in the tray beneath the headunit. I got single-button FOBs for this system since it's keyless entry w/ pushbutton start so I don't need another 4-button keyless remote. So I just hold down the single button on my backup 1-way till I hear the relay click if I want reservation mode. Easy. Also makes putting it in reservation mode after needing to do more than 20 seconds of unloading after entering reservation mode simple.

My wife's setup is straightforward and simple b/c she has the CVT and thus no reservation mode issues. Her car uses a keyed ignition so she got the 4-button FM 2-way transmitter.

With the FM fobs, we get an advertised 3000ft of range.

I love it in the mornings when after I get out of the shower when getting ready I just use my remote starter, hear my car start up, then finish getting ready for work. When I'm done <10 minutes later, my car is warm (I always remember to have the driver's seat heater set to on the night before, and have the front defroster switch set on). Any scraping is easily done as well with a warmer interior. So, < 15 minutes after I've remote started, oil temps are around 120-130F, and thus it only takes about 3 minutes of driving to bring it up to operating temps. I have a 20-30 minute commute, so impurities like coolant and fuel will have burned off.

And if the current conditions are above 40*F, I don't remote start till I'm already dressed. Enough time to get the coolant warmed up and the engine oil beginning to warm up without using up too much fuel idling.

Of course once it turns warm, I won't need it and won't use it. But while it's cold (outside temp this morning when I left for work was 12F), it's very nice to have.

I got lots of feedback that the 556uw is an old way of doing things. I was advised to buy a idatalink ADS-AC-LA model. About to install this tomorrow

iDatalink is definitely the way to go when I did that job years ago, however I'm not sure much programming access you can have without having the dealer logins to the iOS or website, as it is a truly universal device customized by their firmwares.

Crazy question for the Keyless Entry STI's (19-20). When getting an aftermarket starter, does it effect your keyless entry or do do you have to use the aftermarket starter fob to open you door?

Second question, any of you (19,20 STI) have the factory installed starter....how do you like it as far as the range?

Just weighing my options...

Default Tach signal for '12 Impreza Sport

Where is it, What is it? I don't see it in the wiring diagrams. Is it hidden in the magic of CANBUS?
