For a 2001 RS USDM and factory alarm, the little red light/pushbutton on the dash, if it's broken (red lens falls out) is that an issue for the system?
I'm guessing it makes it a PITA programming remotes, going into valet mode, etc. Should the system still work though? It's a customer car, remote quit working but I think it is due to them getting a new car battery and losing programming. I can't get into programming mode though. BTW, what fuses feed the remote and alarm? My documents don't show them. . Last edited by Charlie-III; 08-01-2017 at 11:55 AM. |

I have a 2016 WRX with keyless entry but no push to start. I bought replacement keys from Amazon. Are these able to be programmed without visiting the dealer? Will a car locksmith be able to program them more cheaply?

OK, for the older factory alarm, made by Code Alarm, all black rectangular remote used on...
Impreza, 96-01 (I think dependent on build date, may be an Alpine if late) Legacy, 95-99 Forester, 98-00 The FCC code is, GOH-M24. Uses a small 12volt battery, about 1/2 the length of a AAA. Programming remotes can be found here....about 2/3's of the way down...http://www.cars101.com/subaru/keyles...gram%20remotes The remote receiver for this system is under the drivers side of the dash, just above the interior fusebox. If you pull the coin holder out (covering the interior fuse box) you can "sorta see" the receiver. Yes, it's a PITA to get to, but unlike later models (receiver seems to be under the center console) it's not too bad. I searched this thread, looks like few have questions on this series programming. PS, trying out the linked FOB programming on a 01 Impreza RS, the method in the first post didn't work, thus my comment on build date. I will update this post if the linked method works on the 01 RS. Follow up, the method I linked in this post worked on the 01 RS. Yay! Last edited by Charlie-III; 11-22-2017 at 09:52 AM. |

Help
So, i have a 2008 Impreza. Up until about 3 weeks ago, the factory remotes worked fine. Then they intermittently stopped working to lock and unock the doors, etc. and so i thought maybe its the battery. changed the battery and it was not it.
Now, I had wanted remote start anyway, so i thought upgrading to that would override whatever issues i was having with the remotes and kill two birds. I get the remote installed and its working fine at the place. Get home, and same issues as before with the new remote. Its not all the time. It seems to work after I drive the car. But after its been sitting for a while, like in my driveway over night, it wont open in the morning. So i paid all this money for remote start hoping that it was fix the beginning issue but now neither are right. Ideas of what it is please???? though it seems random, I cant help but notice it happens only at my house.... So weird. |

Anyone have any idea how to wire an aftermarket keyless entry to an alphacorp system? I tried the red/white yellow/red wires but they don't seem to work at all.
It's the following unit: I can post images of it if needed. |

Okay I figured it out. Here's a diagram incase anyone ever has the same system and needs to wire it: (sorry for the terrible pictures my scanner didn't want to cooperate so I had to use my phone)
Manufacturer: Alpha Corp Model No. CV98N Part #: 88035FE031 Unlock pin also goes to pin 4 in the connector.(white wire in my case) Last edited by Jiiks; 12-27-2017 at 08:26 AM. |

Will this work for me? HELP!!!!!
So, I bought a 2007 Impreza 2.5i hatchback yesterday and was able to unlock it and start it at the dealership for the test drive using the key, the key fob was left inside the dealership. Later at home after I had locked the car with the lock button on the door, I went back out to my car and used the key to unlock the car, the key fob was left in the house. My alarm went off, I don't know what finally made the alarm stop, but it did. I was always outside of the car when I tried to open it. The security light didn't seem to ever stop blinking, even when the alarm was off. Would reprogramming the key fob fix my issue and allow me to get in my car to start it? I assume I am going to have to open the door, set the alarm off and sit in the car and wait for the alarm to go off before I can reprogram the fob. I see on the forum that turning the key on three times will shut the alarm off, really? I don't know if this post makes any sense, I am worried I just messed up by buying this car. It is supposed to be replacing my 96 outback with 290,000 miles on it. Feel free to text or call with advice please... 216-804-1050

2017 STI limited (push button start). The damn car is stuck in alarm 'arm' mode.
My door locks quit working, I swapped the fuse, and ever since then the immobilizer light flashes and anytime I open the door the alarm goes off. I've tried everything in the manual with no success. It's as if the antennas aren't picking up my fob - neither remotely or via any button presses. The push start button is completely dead - no accessory functions just illumination with or without headlights. |

Anyone with a VA chassis have problems with their cars not registering button presses from a certain zone/distance away from the car? My 2016 WRX seems to only respond to button presses from the key when I'm either right beside the front passenger door or when I'm behind the car. Changed batteries on two sets of keys and swapped out fuse#3 and fuse #15. Still have a few months of warranty left but thought someone might have some ideas here.

Replacing and reprogramming keys for 2014 Impreza Hatchback Gray 2.0 i Premium
Hi All, first time posting because I couldnt find this info on the forum or ANYWHERE on the internet – so I am sharing here in case anyone searches later. This is the most comprehensive reprogramming / lost key Subaru 2014 post so far •*You cannot program the keys on your own like the older Subarus. There is a machine that you can use to program it but it costs $700-$1000 on eBay and probably requires special registration (I noticed it can also be used to change odometer). • You can buy the blank key online. Bought one for $30 shipped on Ebay, took 5 business days to arrive in San Jose, CA. It does feel slightly cheaper. •*The total cost to replace the key was $250 + tax: $30 service for someone to come to you, $60 to cut the key (though you could negotiate this down), $150 to reprogram the key (seems standard). •*You should NOT get it replaced at the dealership bc they don't have the machine or key cutter there, so they have to remove your unit from your car, send it somewhere, and have the key reprogrammed and cut there. It costs $1000 through the dealership. Negotiating Price I called two places and used them to negotiate against each other. Brought the price down from $330 to $240. Got the guy's card and will reach him directly next time (hopefully never) and he said he'd do it for cheaper. If you go through a dispatcher it's more expensive bc they have to give some back to the dispatcher. On weekends the volume of work via dispatchers in a given area is larger. How it actually works - They have to confirm your identity w/ driver's license and ID - They call the dealership and give them VIN number, they give them the code so they can reprogram the key - In my case the code was wrong so he had to spend 2 hours iterating until he got it right lol - The key can be cut right away but car won't work until it's programmed - Once the codes are gotten from the unit, there is a special device that plugs into the car's system and is used to wipe the unit where the code is stored. A new set of codes is programmed. THis way the old key doesn't work anymore. - The key is programmed with these new codes. - Next time if you loes the keys u give the locksmith these codes so they don't have to call the dealership - Yes, this means that if someone were to have the machine and your codes, they could probably reprogram your car and drive away with it. (The name of the machine is auto pro pad) Here's to never losing a car key again! |

Key fob dead zone?
Has anyone experienced a dead zone with their key fobs?
My key fobs worked until a couple of days ago. Replaced both batteries. Neither fob works in my garage or driveway, but when I'm out somewhere else they work every time. Nothing has changed at my house-no new electronics. Car is stock, no adapters, cameras or anything like that. Only plug an iPod into the usb, that's it. Neighbour beside us is bigwig with Vivint home security, his house is Fort Knox but remotes worked previously with them living there. Neighbor two houses away just moved in and had home audio/visual/security people installing stuff for days. Would something like that interfere with the frequency the remotes are on? Annoying because I can't lock my car in the driveway, and if I do it manually my alarm goes off upon opening it. 2016 STi. Stock. Located in Canada if it matters. |

My 16 WRX did the same thing too. Oddly it seems to have fixed itself within the past couple of days. Only seems to not work at home, sometimes it will work if I’m on the passenger side and other times it won’t work at all. Same situation as you, nothing environmentally changed and just started happening out of the blue. |

Program a key for 2005 STi with wrong VIN
OK, so I believe the 2005 STi has a programmed key.
Get a key cut, then program based on the VIN. Issue is, this is a swap into a 2004 RS, complete 2005 STi (engine, trans, suspension, dash, harnesses). We bought it this way and do not know the original VIN. Can a dealer read the alarm module, figure out the VIN, then program a new key? This is my son's car and he only has one key. If I misunderstand how the system works, let me know. |

Thought I'd post in case it might help someone else out. For a 2004 STi, 6-spd:
Some steps of this were not in previous posts and turned out to be non trivial (like the gearbox being in neutral). That or I just missed them. Enjoy! |

I have a 2012 subaru impreza hatchback. I replaced the battery and now my factory alarm / fob key doesnt work anymore. I cant unlock/lock the car with the pushbutton on the key anymore. I cant find any resources online regarding how to fix this. I tried the key on off for 10 times but my horn never beeped.
Can anyone help me? Thanks |

This thread is so helpful, just want to say thank you to everyone who has contributed successful info, problems, and updated resolutions. I'm installing the China PKE into an 05 STI harness 2002 chassis. This is my first full alarm install, although I've ran into many road blocks I've been able to navigate further and further thanks to this thread, ken gilbert, and modlife. My last step and current road block is the panic siren.
I plan to go over the door lock schematics as I may have read the translated info. incorrectly. I can get the horns to chirp, beep, toot, all of that fancy jizz, but they will not go off upon entry. The factory system does this well, but the (2)alarms do not work together, so one must be deleted. I want the push start and keyless entry features, so the OEM looses for now. That out of the picture, my final step is as mentioned above. I may just have simply over complicated tings and missed a step. Updates coming soon. Hopefully, I can recall all that info. and re-share here. * GENERAL HOW TO (If you're not proficient with a test light and/or volt meter - don't even bother, this will be a nightmare for you): BUY / INSTALL AT YOUR OWN RISK |

05 wrx won't enter programing mode
Been trying all week to pair a key fob with no luck. Followed the manual as well as the "alternate" methods found on here with no luck. Im 90% sure im doing it correctly. Iv tried about 100 times
Some background. Had the car for about a month, did not come with a key fob. At some point in its history the car was stolen and recovered. The starting column + key was replaced. The previous owner also had the door locks changed to match the ignition. I believe it used to have the security option as well (horn near the turbo) but is no longer active. Would any of this prevent/ cause an issue being able to enter programing mode? |
