No low beam, High beam good, Battery Light on
Folks,
2007 Impreza coupe with issues I've never seen. It's raining (probably contributing) but the low beams stopped while driving. The battery light came on but nothing else like the radio or dash dropped out. The High Beam still comes on, so I drove home with the high beams. The fact that the high beams turned on makes me think it is not the alternator going down. Any clues? Could a blown fuse make the battery light come on? Never seen that before, but this is all new to myself. Thanks, Jaysen

Folks,
Update, still looking for help. The alternator was bad so I changed it out, thought that would fix problem. The Battery Light is now gone but I still don't have low beams. High beams still working normally. Fuses and bulbs are good. Could this be a relay? Thanks, Jaysen |

Check the fuses with an ohm meter.
It could be a relay. |

try and check the connectors and going through your fuses using a multimeter?

Solved
Folks,
Thought I'd write this because a lot of the other posts never explained the resolution. All of the issues happened at once and pointed to the Alternator. I didn't have a multimeter so I ONLY checked the bulbs visually. There was no indication they had blown; no discoloration or filament pieces. Fuses were all good. The DRL relay in behind the glove box and the relays in the fuse box were all clicking. I finally found my multimeter and started doing it right to find the bulbs while looking good were blown. I'm thinking when the alternator blew it surged the bulbs, that's the only way I can rationalize everything failing at once. With new alternator and bulbs we are good. Thanks, Jaysen |
