2017 WRX 6MT Base DTC B14A1
I was torn between this forum location and electrical and lighting.
Hooked up a scan tool to the WRX today and ran a "Health Report". Scan tool scanned all applicable modules in the car. Had a DTC pop up in the Air Conditioner Module B14A1 - "Sunload Sensor - Circuit Low/Open". My questions are: Does anybody know, Is this sensor actually used in the 2017 WRX Base model? Or is it there because it was it cheaper for SUBARU to leave it there without any functionality? If its supposed to be functional, Not a big deal now to leave it broke. I'm at 22K and will be scheduling a visit to the dealer around before the bumper to bumper runs out. If this is a real issue, I only have this sensor and the throw out bearing is getting noisy.

Does your car have auto-on headlights? Then you have a sunload sensor.
If the system checked the sensor with the car in the shade or at night, it will interpret that as a open circuit and set this code. Its a non-issue at this point. The sensor has to be checked in sunlight. |
